Polaris (song)
"Polaris" is the second single from the album Twilight of the Innocents by the band Ash. It was released on 15 June 2007 in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and in the United States on 18 June 2007. It reached number 32 in the UK singles chart, and as of 2022 remains their last single to have reached the UK top 40 singles chart. The band released the video for the song to their YouTube profile on 26 May. B-side "Chinese New Year" first featured as an acoustic version in the Ash road-movie, "Episode 1: Road Movie" and can be found on the DVD format of "Burn Baby Burn". Ash (band)
Ash are a Northern Irish rock band formed in Downpatrick in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray. As a three-piece, they released mini-album '' Trailer'' in 1994 and full-length album '' 1977'' in 1996. This 1996 release was named by ''NME'' as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. After the success of their full debut the band recruited Charlotte Hatherley as a guitarist and vocalist, releasing their second record ''Nu-Clear Sounds'' in 1998. ''Twilight of the Innocents'' is the fifth studio album by Irish rock band Ash. It was released on 29 June 2007, through Infectious Records. Following the departure of guitarist Charlotte Hatherley in early 2006, the band began recording their next album in New York City at Bang Studios, which they had leased from a friend of a friend. Frontman Tim Wheeler produced the recordings, with bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer McMurray acting as associate producers. Described as a pop and power pop album, ''Twilight of the Innocents'' placed emphasis on Hamilton's bass parts. "End of the World" is the third single released from alternative rock band Ash's album, ''Twilight of the Innocents''. It was released on 10 September 2007 on gatefold 7" vinyl, bagged 7", CD single and two digital download formats. It charted at a lowly No.62 in the UK Charts, becoming their first single to miss the top 40 since "Kung Fu" in 1995. A music video was shot in Tokyo, photos were uploaded by the videos director The single is the last Ash release Charlotte Hatherley would have contributed to, despite having left the band a year prior to the single's release. She is credited to providing guitar, Fender Rhodes, and backing vocal parts for the track "Seventh Circle". The track was recorded during sessions for the ''Meltdown'' album, and was held over because it didn't fit the album's motif.
