Poland In The Eurovision Song Contest 2020
Poland originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Empires" written by Dominik Buczkowski-Wojtaszek, Patrik Kumór, Laurell Barker and Frazer Mac. The song was performed by Alicja Szemplińska. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) organised the national final in order to select the Polish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The national final consisted of three semi-finals featured seven contestants each on 2, 9 and 16 February 2020, respectively, and a final on 23 February 2020 featuring the three qualifying contestants. "Empires" performed by Alicja Szemplińska was selected as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a six-member jury panel and a public vote. Poland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 14 May 2020. However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Alicja Szemplińska
Alicja Maria Szemplińska (born 29 April 2002), also known mononymously as Alicja, is a Polish singer. She won season 10 of ''The Voice of Poland'' in 2019. The following year, she won Poland's national Eurovision selection competition '' Szansa na sukces'' with her song "Empires", which she would have performed at the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam on 14 May 2020. On 18 March 2020, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Michał Szpak (born 26 November 1990) is a Polish singer who found fame on the inaugural season of the Polish ''X Factor'' in 2011. On 12 May 2016, Szpak represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden with the song " Color of Your Life". Tulia (band)
Tulia is a Polish folk music group. The band was formed in 2017, in Szczecin, Poland. There are three singers in the band: Dominika Siepka, Patrycja Nowicka and Tulia Biczak, whose name was chosen as the name of the band. They received major attention in Poland in 2017, after sharing a cover of Depeche Mode's song "Enjoy the Silence" on YouTube. The group use the white voice singing technique.
