PixelJunk
''PixelJunk'' is a series of downloadable games developed by Q-Games. The series made its debut on PlayStation 3 with ''PixelJunk Racers'', released July 11, 2007. The series was published internationally by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation platforms until 2012, with Q-Games themselves publishing on other platforms and for PlayStation in Japan. Spike Chunsoft took over worldwide publishing for ''PixelJunk Monsters 2'' in 2018. Development ''PixelJunk'' is developed by Q-Games, headed by Dylan Cuthbert. The series began in 2007 with the release of ''PixelJunk Racers''. While ''Racers'' was met with modest critical and commercial reception, 2008 and 2009 saw the releases of the more popular, critically acclaimed titles ''PixelJunk Monsters'', ''PixelJunk Eden'' and ''PixelJunk Shooter''. PixelJunk Shooter
''PixelJunk Shooter'' is a video game developed by Q-Games for the PlayStation 3. It is the fourth major title in the ''PixelJunk'' series. It was released on the worldwide PlayStation Store in December 2009, and for Steam on November 11, 2013. A remastered version of the game, ''PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate'', was released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in June 2014, and for Microsoft Windows on October 21, 2015. Gameplay In ''PixelJunk Shooter'', up to two players can control their own subterranean vehicles to rescue a number of surviving scientists trapped underground. Using their ships' missiles, players can defeat enemies and destroy weak rock to progress through the environment. In addition to rock and ice, players must manipulate three types of fluid (water, magma, and ferrofluid) in order to reach the survivors. ''PixelJunk Monsters'' is the second game in the ''PixelJunk'' series developed by Q-Games for the PlayStation 3. It was released worldwide on the PlayStation Store on January 24, 2008. The game was released for the PlayStation Portable under the title ''PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe''. ''PixelJunk Monsters Encore'', an expansion pack for the game, was released on April 24, 2008 in Japan; May 8, 2008 in North America; and May 15, 2008 in Europe. In May 2016, ''PixelJunk Monsters'' was released by Double Eleven (company), Double Eleven for Wii U. In 2018, ''PixelJunk Monsters 2'' was released, incorporating 3D graphics and new features. Q-Games, Limited is a video game developer based in Nakagyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan which works closely with both Nintendo and Sony. ''PixelJunk Eden'' is a video game developed by Q-Games for the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows. The third game in the ''PixelJunk'' series, it was released on the PlayStation Store on July 31, 2008 worldwide. A demo of the game was released on July 25, 2008. The game features the work of Baiyon, an independent artist from Kyoto who was invited by the studio founder Dylan Cuthbert to design the graphics and soundtrack. Gameplay The player controls a "Grimp" (derived from the actions "grip" and "jump"), a small creature that maneuvers itself by jumping from and attaching itself to plant-like structures. The Grimp also has the abilities to swing itself from a silk-like tether for a short amount of time and spin while jumping. ''PixelJunk Racers'' is a puzzle racing video game developed by Q-Games for PlayStation 3. It was released on the PlayStation Store in 2007 as the first title in the ''PixelJunk'' series. An updated version, ''PixelJunk Racers: 2nd Lap'', was released in 2010. Gameplay Bearing structural similarity to slot car racing games, the tracks of ''PixelJunk Racers'' consist of five separate lanes within which the cars move. The camera is always fixed above the circuit, giving an aerial overview of the entire track. The commands a player can execute are; changing lanes, controlling the throttle, and honking the horn.
