Léo Quievreux
Léo Quievreux (born 1971) is a French author and illustrator of comic books, and founder of publisher Éditions Gotoproductions. His moniker as a musician is Pik. Early life and education Quievreux was born in Mulhouse in the Alsace region of France, in 1971. He studied applied arts in at École Estienne and École Duperré in Paris, from 1990 to 1993. Career Quievreux was a key artist in the French alternative comic book scene of the 1990s, known as "la nouvelle bande dessinée", and founded and ran his own publication house, Gotoproduction, which he ran along with Jean Kristau and Anne-Fred Maurer from 1991 to 2000 or 2001, and which published over 60 books. Since 1997, his drawings have been regularly published by several well-known publishers of comic books: Marseille publisher Le Dernier Cri; L'Association in Paris, and Lyons-based Arbitraire (since its establishment in 2005); and, since 2015, by Éditions Matière in Montreuil. Fong Chong Pik
Fong Chong Pik (; 1924 - 6 February 2004), also known as Fang Chuang Pi, was a political activist and member of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM), otherwise known as the Malayan Communist Party (MCP). He was the leader of the Singapore section of the Communist Party of Malaya. Fong Chong Pik was given the nickname "The Plen" (for "plenipotentiary") in the 1950s by his then political nemesis, Lee Kuan Yew. Roelof Frederik "Pik" Botha, (27 April 1932 – 12 October 2018) was a South African politician who served as the country's foreign minister in the last years of the apartheid era, the longest-serving in South African history. Known as a liberal within the party, Botha served to present a friendly, conciliatory face on the regime, while criticised internally. He was a leading contender for the leadership of the National Party upon John Vorster's resignation in 1978, but was ultimately not chosen. Staying in the government after the first non-racial general election in 1994, he served under Mandela as Minister of Mineral and Energy Affairs from 1994 to 1996, and eventually joined the African National Congress (ANC) after his resignation. Svika Pick (, 3 October 1949 – 14 August 2022), born Henryk Pick, was an Israeli pop singer, songwriter, composer, and television personality. Pick first gained traction on a national level after playing a lead part in an Israeli version of the musical ''Hair'', later pursuing a prolific songwriting and singing career. He later gained notoriety after co-writing "Diva", which won the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest for Israel. Pick was described by peers and critics as the Israeli King of Pop, and the Maestro. Shek Pik
Shek Pik () is an area located along the southwestern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. When the Shek Pik Reservoir was built, villages at Shek Pik were demolished and the villagers were relocated to other parts of Lantau Island and to Tsuen Wan. Below the dam of the reservoir is Shek Pik Prison. Geography Shek Pik was originally a north-south oriented valley, until all the upper part was filled by the water of the Shek Pik Reservoir, which was completed in 1963. Before the construction of the reservoir, the valley was settled by several villages and most of the valley floor and the foothills were occupied by terraced paddy fields. Peak Talgar ( kk, Талғар шыңы ''Talğar Şyñy''; russian: Пик Талгар, Pik Talgar) is a northern peak in the Tian Shan mountain range in Kazakhstan, named after Talgar river and city. It is the highest peak of the Trans-Ili Alatau. Due to its close proximity to the former capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, it is a popular mountaineering destination. Sources differ on Peak Talgar's elevation, but the 4,979 m height is widely quoted. The summit has precipitous slopes, especially in the west, crevasses and buttresses packed with snow and ice. Pik Uk () is a small village in Sai Kung District, New Territories, Hong Kong. Location Pik Uk is located on Clear Water Bay Road, roughly halfway between Ping Shek Estate and the Hang Hau Road roundabout, adjacent to Razor Hill, and not far from Tseng Lan Shue. He produced great jumping horses, and was influential in the breeding of warmbloods in Germany during his lifetime.
