Pik Uk
Pik Uk () is a small village in Sai Kung District, New Territories, Hong Kong. Location Pik Uk is located on Clear Water Bay Road, roughly halfway between Ping Shek Estate and the Hang Hau Road roundabout, adjacent to Razor Hill, and not far from Tseng Lan Shue. The village is located to the east of Pik Uk Correctional Institution and Pik Uk Prison. Administration Pik Uk is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy. History At the time of the 1911 census, the population of Pik Uk was 25. The number of males was 5. Layout There are approximately 150 settlements in the village and vacant land that surround the village are regulated by the government. Although home ownership is allowed in the village, the village is regulated by the government in the same manner as the public building estates (like Choi Hung Estate), in which the building estates are only for rent. Royal Asiatic Society Hong Kong Branch is an organisation to encourage interest in Asia broadly, with an emphasis on Hong Kong. The society was founded in 1847 and folded 1859. Choi Hung Estate
Choi Hung Estate () is a public housing estate in Ngau Chi Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was built by the former Hong Kong Housing Authority () and is now managed by the current Hong Kong Housing Authority (). It received a Silver Medal at the 1965 Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards. Location Choi Hung Estate is located in Ngau Chi Wan and is surrounded by several of eastern Kowloon Peninsula's major roads. Archiv Produktion is a classical music record label of German origin. It originated in 1949 as a classical label for the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft (DGG), and in 1958 Archiv was established as a subsidiary of DGG, specialising in recordings of Early and Baroque music. It has since developed a particular focus on "historically informed performance" and the work of artists of the Early music revival movement of the 20th and 21st centuries. Sai Kung District
Sai Kung District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China. The district comprises the southern half of the Sai Kung Peninsula, the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in the New Territories and a strip of land to the east of Kowloon. Small House Policy
The Small House Policy (SHP, ) was introduced in 1972 in Hong Kong. The objective was to improve the then prevailing low standard of housing in the rural areas of the New Territories. The Policy allows an indigenous male villager who is 18 years old and is descended through the male line from a resident in 1898 of a recognized village in the New Territories, an entitlement to one concessionary grant during his lifetime to build one house. The policy has generated debates and calls for amendments to be made.
