The Genoa–Milan railway is a major Italian rail line, connecting the cities of Genoa and Milan. It is long and fully electrified at 3,000 V DC. Passenger traffic is managed by Trenitalia. History Unlike the Turin-Genoa line, the Milan-Genoa line was not built as a single project. Instead it developed from the joining of different lines by a shortcut. Trenord is a railway company which is responsible for the operation of regional passenger trains in Lombardy. The company was established by the two main railway companies in Lombardy, Trenitalia and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), to manage train operations in the region. The equity is equally divided between the two companies. Milano Rogoredo is a railway station in Milan, Italy. It is one of the key nodes of the Milan suburban railway service as the southern gate of the Milanese urban network. History Early history The station's location was originally (as of 1891) a junction for the old cargo station of Milano Sempione; it became a cargo station itself in 1908. The S13 is a commuter rail route forming part of the Milan suburban railway service ( it, Servizio ferroviario suburbano di Milano), which converges on the city of Milan, Italy. The route runs over the infrastructure of the Milan Passante and Milan–Pavia–Voghera railways. Like all but one of the other Milan suburban railway service routes, it is operated by Trenord. Milan Suburban Railway Network
The Milan S Lines constitute the commuter rail system serving the metropolitan area of Milan, Italy. The system comprises 11 lines serving 124 stations, for a total length of 403 km. There are 415 trains per day with a daily ridership of about 230,000. The core of the system is the Passante, an underground railway running through the city approximately from the north-west to the south-east. Several lines share this track, making the service in the city centre comparable to a metro line. The service timetable is based on a clock-face scheduling.
