Tunç Başaran
Tunç Başaran (October 1, 1938 – December 18, 2019) was a Turkish screenwriter, film director, film producer and actor. Biography After attending the Faculty of Literature for a while he left school and started working as a script writer for the director Memduh Ün. He then continued to be the assistant of Memduh Ün for a long time. Meanwhile, he also worked as assistant for such directors as Ömer Lütfi Akad, Halit Refiğ, Atıf Yılmaz, Ertem Göreç. In 1964 he directed his first feature ''Survival''. By 1962, he had directed about 40 films. After 1972, he switched to commercials. He directed ''Don't Let Them Shoot The Kite'' in 1989. Serap Aksoy
Fatma Serap Aksoy (born in 1955) is a Turkish–American medical entomologist. Early life and education Aksoy was born in Fatih, Istanbul in 1955. After graduating from Robert College, she moved to the United States for her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Vassar College. Following this, she earned a PhD in Biology from Columbia University and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship the Yale School of Public Health. Career Following her post-doctoral fellowship, Aksoy joined the faculty at the Yale School of Public Health in 1988. She was eventually promoted to full professor in 2001 and served as the department chair from 2002 to 2010. As a full professor, Aksoy focused on studying the transmission of human African Trypanosomiasis. She was specifically interested in conducting studies to genetically alter tsetse flies so it would be unable to transmit the parasite to humans and livestock. Turkey has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film on a regular basis since 1989. Prior to that, they also sent a single film (''Dry Summer'') in the 1960s after it won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. The Oscar is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. This is a list of submissions to the 65th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country.
