Phillip Jensen
Phillip David Jensen (born 1945) is an Australian cleric of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney and the former Dean of St Andrew's Cathedral. He is the brother of Peter Jensen, the former Anglican Archbishop of Sydney. Early life and conversion Jensen spent the early years of his life living at Bellevue Hill, a suburb in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. His first public statement of faith came at a Billy Graham crusade in 1959. He married his wife Helen in 1969. Education and ministry Jensen studied theology at Moore Theological College from 1967 to 1970 and won the Hey Sharp prize for coming first in the Licenciate of Theology (ThL), the standard course of study at that time. The Very Reverend
The Very Reverend is a Style (manner of address), style given to members of the clergy. The definite article "The" should always precede "Reverend" as "Reverend" is a style or fashion and not a title. John Chapman (evangelist)
John Charles Chapman (23 July 1930 – 16 November 2012), affectionately known as "Chappo", was an Australian preacher, Bible teacher and evangelist associated with the Sydney Anglican diocese. He wrote several books, including ''A Fresh Start''; ''Know and Tell the Gospel''; ''Setting Hearts on Fire'', ''A Sinner's Guide to Holiness''; and ''Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life'', all published by Matthias Media. The Australian edition of ''A Fresh Start'' has sold nearly 40,000 copies since 1999. Having begun his career as a teacher, Chapman shifted to Anglican ministry, his first curacy being at Moree. There he organised the Billy Graham Crusade landline services for the whole of Moree there. Fellowship Of Independent Evangelical Churches (Australia)
The Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches is an evangelical Christian denomination, denomination in Australia. It consists of 55 churches in every state except South Australia. Most of the churches were formed as Church planting, church plants by clergy trained at Moore Theological College, but operating outside the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Diocese of Sydney. Many of them do not have their own church buildings, and meet at local schools. The FIEC started in 2002, and has experienced significant growth. The FIEC denomination is complementarian and requires the senior pastors of its affiliated churches to agree to and uphold this doctrine to maintain their membership of the FIEC. The Briefing
''The Briefing'' was an evangelical Christian magazine published by Matthias Media in partnership with The Good Book Company (UK). It was printed monthly, and was circulated in Australia, North America and the United Kingdom. Although it was contributed by and targeted towards Christians of all denominations, the magazine had a distinctly Sydney Anglican slant. The magazine existed between 1988 and 2014. Tract (literature)
A tract is a literary work and, in current usage, usually religious in nature. The notion of what constitutes a tract has changed over time. By the early part of the 21st century, a tract referred to a brief pamphlet used for religious and political purposes, though far more often the former. Tracts are often either left for someone to find or handed out. However, there have been times in history when the term implied tome-like works. A ''tractate'', a derivative of a tract, is equivalent in Hebrew literature to a ''chapter'' of the Christian Bible. Katoomba Christian Convention
Katoomba Christian Convention (KCC) is an interdenominational ministry providing evangelical Bible preaching to Christians. Conventions are held in KCC's 2300 seat auditorium at Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains approximately west of the Central Business District of Sydney, Australia. At present there are six conventions (many of them run over 2–3 identical weekends). The site also hosts the annual CMS Summer School, organised by the Church Missionary Society which draws close to 3000 people a day during the first week of January. Matthias Media
Matthias Media is an Australian evangelicalism, evangelical Christian publisher. The business was founded in 1988, and grew out of the ministry of Phillip Jensen and editor Tony Payne at St Matthias, Centennial Park, Sydney under the name St Matthias Press and Tapes. Many resources now published by Matthias Media were developed as part of the ministry of Campus Bible Study at the University of New South Wales. Since then the company has grown under the banner "Resources for growing Christians" and is now incorporated as a non-profit company under the name Matthias Media. By 2001 it was the largest evangelical publisher in Australia with over 100 books published. Conversion to Christianity is the religious conversion of a previously non-Christian person to Christianity. Different Christian denominations may perform various different kinds of rituals or ceremonies initiation into their community of believers. The most commonly accepted ritual of conversion in Christianity is through baptism, but this is not universally accepted among them all. Expository preaching, also known as expositional preaching, is a form of preaching that details the meaning of a particular text or passage of Scripture. It explains what the Bible means by what it says. Exegesis is technical and grammatical exposition, a careful drawing out of the exact meaning of a passage in its original context.
