Phil Mealey
Phil Mealey is a British actor and writer from Stockport. Biography Mealey co-wrote and associate-produced the BBC sitcom ''Early Doors'' with Craig Cash. Mealey also acted in the series, playing the character Duffy. Cash and Mealey won two North West Comedy Awards in 2005 for the writing and acting on the series. Mealey also co-wrote some episodes of the BBC's sitcom series titled ''The Royle Family'', along with Cash and Caroline Aherne Caroline Mary Aherne (24 December 1963 – 2 July 2016) was an English actress, comedian and writer. Stockport
Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. Most of the town is within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, with the area north of the Mersey in the historic county of Lancashire. A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Early Doors
''Early Doors'' is a BBC sitcom written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey. Both writers appear in the series, playing the two characters of 'Joe' and 'Duffy' who are best friends. ''Early Doors'' is set at The Grapes, a small public house in the town of Stockport where daily life revolves around comical issues of love, loneliness and blocked urinals. Scenario The show is about a pub landlord named Ken (John Henshaw), especially his preoccupation with his step-daughter Melanie (Christine Bottomley), who is preparing to meet her real father and his nervous relationship with barmaid Tanya (Susan Cookson). Ken's wife left him for his best friend. The series reflects some of the Northern humour displayed in ''The Royle Family'' (co-written by Cash). The Royle Family
''The Royle Family'' is a British sitcom produced by Granada Television for the BBC, which ran for three series from 1998 to 2000, and specials from 2006 to 2012. It centres on the lives of a television-fixated Manchester family, the Royles, comprising family patriarch Jim Royle (Ricky Tomlinson), his wife Barbara (Sue Johnston), their daughter Denise (Caroline Aherne), their son Antony (Ralf Little) and Denise's fiancé (later husband) David (Craig Cash). Caroline Mary Aherne (24 December 1963 – 2 July 2016) was an English actress, comedian and writer. She was best known for performing as the acerbic chat show host ''The Mrs Merton Show, Mrs Merton'', in various roles in ''The Fast Show'', and as Denise in ''The Royle Family'', a series which she co-wrote.
