Phaser (band)
Phaser was a Washington, D.C. band that wrote, performed and recorded from 1998 to 2005. They released four records including ''Silverscreen Daydream'' (1998), ''Skydive'' (2000), ''Sway'' (2001) and ''Sleeper'' (2005). Their record ''Sway'' was re-released in 2003 on Emperor Norton Records. Their last EP, ''Sleeper'' was released in 2005. Former Phaser singer, bassist, and keyboardist Boris Skalsky founded his own band Dead Heart Bloom in 2005. Dead Heart Bloom has since released three records and a series of EPs. Boris Skalsky has also released two solo records, ''First Songs'' and ''Forever and a Day.'' A classically trained musician, Skalsky has also released music focused on his instrumental work. Phaser guitarist Paul Wood joined Dead Heart Bloom in 2008. Phaser keyboardist and singer Mike Reina has started a band with Jimmy Chamberlin of The Smashing Pumpkins named Skysaw. Emperor Norton Records
Emperor Norton Records was a Los Angeles-based electronica, hip-hop, and dance-music record label. Among the artists featured on the label were Ladytron, Arling & Cameron, Money Mark, Ugly Duckling, and Fantastic Plastic Machine. Additionally, it released the soundtracks to movies including '' Lost in Translation'', '' CQ'' and ''The Virgin Suicides''. The company was named after Joshua A. Norton, a San Francisco citizen noted for proclaiming himself Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico in 1859. Dead Heart Bloom
Dead Heart Bloom is an ambient rock band based in New York City. Members include singer and bassist Boris Skalsky, guitarist Paul Wood and drummer Jason Molina. Both Skalsky and Wood were prior members of acclaimed Washington, D.C. newgaze rock outfit Phaser and Molina a former member of New York band Longwave. In 2011 Skalsky and Wood were also touring members of the band Skysaw, the project of former The Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Molina rejoined Longwave in the fall of 2018 for a reunion tour and single release. Dead Heart Bloom music has been used in a number of soundtracks. In 2011, their song "Someday Soon Our Time Will Come" was used in the independent film ''Friends with Kids''. Jimmy Chamberlin
James Joseph Chamberlin (born June 10, 1964) is an American drummer and record producer. He is best known as the drummer for the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. Following the 2000 breakup of the band, Chamberlin joined Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in the supergroup Zwan and also formed his own group, the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. In 2005, Chamberlin joined Corgan in reforming The Smashing Pumpkins; he eventually left the group in March 2009, though he returned again in 2015 for a summer tour. He performed in the group Skysaw until 2012. He is currently active under the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex name. In addition to his current work as CEO, Chamberlin has joined Chicago jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano for a string of 2013–15 performances in the Chicago area. The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins (also referred to as simply Smashing Pumpkins) are an American alternative rock band from Chicago. Formed in 1988 by frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, the band has undergone several line-up changes since their reunion in 2006, with Corgan being the sole constant member since its inception.
