Ana (Overwatch)
The 2016 first-person shooter video game ''Overwatch'', developed by Blizzard Entertainment, features 32 playable characters known as heroes and a number of supporting characters as part of the game's narrative, which is told through animated media and digital comics outside of the game. Its sequel, ''Overwatch 2'', was released in October 2022 and replaced ''Overwatch''. The sequel builds upon the same hero roster and added more characters, launching with 35 heroes. However, as ''Overwatch 2'' had been developed to be a faster game with five-versus-five teams rather than six-versus-six, several of the characters had tweaks or major rebuilds within ''Overwatch 2''. The story of ''Overwatch'' takes place on Earth in the "near future" in the years after the "Omnic Crisis," a period in which robots (called "omnics") rose up in rebellion worldwide, and the United Nations formed an elite group called Overwatch to combat them. Overwatch continued to protect the peace until it was ...

The game was first released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in May 2016 and Nintendo Switch in October 2019. Cross-platform play was supported across all platforms. Described as a " hero shooter", ''Overwatch'' assigned players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a large roster of characters, known as "heroes", with unique abilities. Teams worked to complete map-specific objectives within a limited period of time. Blizzard added new characters, maps, and game modes post-release, all free of charge, with the only additional cost to players being optional loot boxes to purchase cosmetic items. ''Overwatch'' is Blizzard's fourth major franchise and came about following the 2014 cancellation of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, ''Titan''. A portion of the ''Titan'' team were inspired by the success of team-based first-person shooters ...

Cassidy (Overwatch)
Cole Cassidy is a character from the 2016 video game ''Overwatch (video game), Overwatch'', a Blizzard Entertainment–developed first-person shooter. Originally named Jesse McCree after a developer at Blizzard, the character's name was changed after the developer was fired for alleged inappropriate behavior at the company. Conception and development The character's original concept was designed by Chris Metzen as a cyborg cowboy considered for the original ''Starcraft'', "Prospector Logann". Years later, Blizzard concept artists Arnold Tsang and Peter Lee refined the design for a then-planned ''Starcraft'' game. While the project itself was cancelled, after ''Overwatch''s development team took a liking to the design's combination of science fiction and gunslinger archetypes, it was recycled for a new character in the game. In their eyes the design had everything they wanted in a playable character for the game: a strong personality, unique visual style, and memorable pop cultur ...

Overwatch (digital Comic Series)
''Overwatch'' is a digital comic series published online by Blizzard Entertainment and republished by Dark Horse Comics, featuring events surrounding the characters of the ''Overwatch'' universe. It was published between April 2016 and April 2018. Blizzard uses the comic series, along with animated media, fictional news reports, and online character biographies, to develop the narrative of ''Overwatch'', as the video game includes no traditional story or campaign mode. Development Blizzard did not include a traditional campaign or story mode in the ''Overwatch'' video game. Instead, Blizzard opted to develop the story and lore of the ''Overwatch'' universe through a transmedia storytelling method, including animated shorts and comic titles. On the approach to the storytelling, senior game designer Michael Chu, stated, "it was a solution that was born out of the kind of game we were making, because multiplayer shooter, obviously usually doesn't have a linear story. Indigenous Peoples In Canada
In Canada, Indigenous groups comprise the First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Although ''Indian'' is a term still commonly used in legal documents, the descriptors ''Indian'' and '' Eskimo'' have fallen into disuse in Canada, and most consider them to be pejorative. ''Aboriginal peoples'' as a collective noun is a specific term of art used in some legal documents, including the '' Constitution Act, 1982'', though in most Indigenous circles ''Aboriginal'' has also fallen into disfavour. Old Crow Flats and Bluefish Caves are some of the earliest known sites of human habitation in Canada. The Paleo-Indian Clovis, Plano and Pre-Dorset cultures pre-date the current Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Projectile point tools, spears, pottery, bangles, chisels and scrapers mark archaeological sites, thus distinguishing cultural periods, traditions, and lithic reduction styles. The characteristics of Indigenous culture in Canada includes a long history of permanent settlements ...

Transmedia Storytelling
Transmedia storytelling (also known as transmedia narrative or multiplatform storytelling) is the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies. From a production standpoint, transmedia storytelling involves creating content that engages an audience using various techniques to permeate their daily lives. In order to achieve this engagement, a transmedia production will develop stories across multiple forms of media in order to deliver unique pieces of content in each channel. Importantly, these pieces of content are not only linked together (overtly or subtly), but are in narrative synchronization with each other. History Transmedia storytelling can be related to the concepts of semiotics and narratology.
