Peter Karlsson (speedway Rider)
Peter Gunnar Karlsson (born 18 December 1969) is a Swedish former international motorcycle speedway rider who rode in the UK for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League. His two younger brothers, Mikael Max and Magnus Karlsson are both motorcycle speedway riders. All three brothers represented Sweden in the 2007 Speedway World Cup, with Magnus riding at reserve. He won the Swedish Pairs Championship twice with brother Mikael, in 1992 and 1996 and was the Swedish Individual Champion in 1989 and 1991. He is a legend at parent club Wolverhampton where he helped them win the 2009 Elite League title despite suffering with a broken collarbone two weeks prior to the play off final. Due to the average points limit, PK had to move on in 2010 and joined Belle Vue Aces on loan. In 2016 PK wasn't originally in Wolverhampton's plans but after Mikel Beck pulled out of the team leaving the door open for PK to join back. He accepted and joined for the remainder of the season. Gullspång
Gullspång is a locality and one of two seats of the Gullspång Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. As of 2010 it had 1,167 inhabitants. 2007 Speedway World Cup
The 2007 Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 7th FIM Speedway World Cup season. The Final took place on July 21, 2007 in the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium in Leszno, Poland. The tournament was won by host team Poland (55 pts) and they beat defending champion Denmark (52 pts), Australia (29 pts) and Great Britain (15 pts) in the Final. Sweden are one of the major teams in international speedway. They have been managed by Mats Olsson, who is currently in his 2nd spell, since 2005 after he quit in 2000. The current captain is 2000 World Under-21 Champion Andreas Jonsson. Magnus Erik Karlsson (born 28 December 1981) is a Swedish international motorcycle speedway rider who rides in the Premier League in the UK for the Leicester Lions. Karl Mikael Karlsson (born 21 August 1973), who rides under the name Mikael Max, is an international motorcycle speedway rider who rode in the UK for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Elite League (speedway)
The Elite League was the top division of speedway league competition in the United Kingdom, governed by the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB), in conjunction with the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA). It was sponsored by Sky Sports until the end of the 2013 season. In 2016, the Elite League featured 8 teams, unlike 10 in 2014, during a season which ran between March and October.
