Mikael Max
Karl Mikael Karlsson (born 21 August 1973), who rides under the name Mikael Max, is an international motorcycle speedway rider who rode in the UK for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League. After first riding a speedway bike at the age of twelve, he moved up to 500cc bikes in 1989.Oakes, Peter (2004) ''British Speedway Who's Who'', , p. 150 He represented Sweden at under-21 level in 1990, and made his full debut for Sweden in 1991. He won the Swedish Under-21 Championship in 1992 and the World Under-21 Championship in 1994. He made his British speedway debut in 1993 for Wolverhampton Wolves, going on to ride for the club until 2005, only missing the 1995 and 2000 seasons. In 2006 he rode for the Arena Essex Hammers. Max is his mother's maiden name and he has raced as Mikael Max since 2003. His two brothers, Peter Karlsson and Magnus Karlsson, are both motorcycle speedway riders. Gullspång
Gullspång is a locality and one of two seats of the Gullspång Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. As of 2010 it had 1,167 inhabitants. Stefan Dannö (born 10 February 1969) is an international former Speedway rider who rode in the Speedway World Championship. He also rode for the Eastbourne Eagles in the British Speedway League and Indianerna in the Swedish Elite League when they were champions in 1990 and 1991. He was Swedish Champion in 2003. His brother Roland Dannö was also a speedway rider. The 2007 Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the 7th FIM Speedway World Cup season. The Final took place on July 21, 2007 in the Alfred Smoczyk Stadium in Leszno, Poland. Sweden are one of the major teams in international speedway. They have been managed by Mats Olsson, who is currently in his 2nd spell, since 2005 after he quit in 2000. Magnus Erik Karlsson (born 28 December 1981) is a Swedish international motorcycle speedway rider who rides in the Premier League in the UK for the Leicester Lions. Peter Karlsson (speedway Rider)
Peter Gunnar Karlsson (born 18 December 1969) is a Swedish former international motorcycle speedway rider who rode in the UK for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the Elite League. His two younger brothers, Mikael Max and Magnus Karlsson are both motorcycle speedway riders. All three brothers represented Sweden in the 2007 Speedway World Cup, with Magnus riding at reserve. He won the Swedish Pairs Championship twice with brother Mikael, in 1992 and 1996 and was the Swedish Individual Champion in 1989 and 1991. He is a legend at parent club Wolverhampton where he helped them win the 2009 Elite League title despite suffering with a broken collarbone two weeks prior to the play off final. Due to the average points limit, PK had to move on in 2010 and joined Belle Vue Aces on loan. Arena Essex Hammers
The Lakeside Hammers were a speedway team who most recently raced in the SGB Championship in 2018. They were founded (as the Arena-Essex Hammers) by promoter Wally Mawdsley and stock car promoter Chick Woodroffe. The team were nicknamed the Hammers after the West Ham Hammers, a speedway team that closed twelve years earlier. The team's home track, the Arena Essex Raceway, closed shortly before the end of the 2018 season and the team did not compete in a league in 2019. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand).
