Peter Harris (boxer)
Peter G. Harris (born 23 August 1962) is a Welsh former professional boxer. Harris became Wales featherweight Champion and in 1986 after defeating Kelvin Smart. He briefly held the British featherweight title in 1988 by defeating Kevin Taylor before winning the Welsh title for a second time in 1994. His last professional bout was in 1996. Career Harris began his professional career in February 1983, suffering a defeat via a points decision to Dave Pratt. He drew a bout with Jim Harvey before winning his first professional fight in his third bout, defeating Brett Styles on points. In 1986, Harris won the Welsh flyweight title after defeating Kelvin Smart on points. Three further victories resulted in Harris receiving a title fight against Kevin Taylor for the vacant British featherweight championship. Kelvin Smart
Kelvin Smart (born 12 December 1960) is a Welsh former professional boxer who competed from 1979 to 1987. He held the British flyweight title from 1982 to 1984. Boxing career Smart began his boxing career as a promising amateur, fighting out of the Wingfield Amateur Boxing Club based in his home town of Caerphilly. In 1979 he entered the ABA Championships held at Wembley Arena in London. He reached the final where he lost to Ray Gilbody, who would later become the British bantamweight champion. Smart turned professional in 1979, facing his first opponent, George Bailey, on 10 September in Birmingham. He stopped Bailey via technical knockout in the fourth round. Smart was prolific during 1979, following his opening victory with four further limited round bouts; winning each of the contests. Paul Hodkinson (born 14 September 1965 in Kirkby, Liverpool, England) is a former professional boxer. Hodkinson fought at Featherweight and is the former British, European and World (WBC) Featherweight Title holder. Amateur career Paul Hodkinson first caught the eye as an amateur bantamweight in the 1984-85 season with a series of good displays for young England and later for the full international side; but John Davidson a hard hitting and mature Northerner proved a little too rugged for him and Hodkinson’s ABA title campaign came to an abrupt finish in the first round. The one round defeat prompted a rethink in the Kirkby club - whose ‘old boys’ included John Conteh and Joey Singleton - and Hodkinson decided it was time to stop fighting the scales and let his body find its true poundage. Steve Robinson (boxer)
Steve Robinson (born 13 December 1968, in Cardiff) is a Welsh retired professional boxer. He is best known for working in Debenhams as a storeman in Cardiff, then with just two days' notice, he accepted the fight against John Davison in 1993 for the vacant WBO Featherweight title and won the contest on a points decision. He was trained by the late boxing coach, Ronnie Rush. Professional career On 17 April 1993 the defending Featherweight Champion, Ruben Palacios from Colombia, was due to defend his title in Washington, England against John Davison from England. However, the champion failed a HIV test by the BBBC prior to the bout and was immediately stripped of his title by the WBO. With only two days to go before the bout, the promoters had to find another opponent to face Davison. Steve Robinson accepted the chance to fight for the WBO crown.
