Peter Allen (footballer)
Peter Charles Allen (1 November 1946 – 5 February 2023) was an English footballer who played as a midfielder, and is the current holder of Leyton Orient's all-time appearance record. Allen turned professional at Orient in July 1965, and made his debut in September of that year. During the late 1960s, he became a regular in the first team, playing in over 40 league matches per season from 1968 to 1973. In 1970, he turned down an offer from Everton. Allen was noted at Orient for his versatility, able to play in defence when required, as well as being capable of scoring goals from midfield. Hove
Hove is a seaside resort and one of the two main parts of the city of Brighton and Hove, along with Brighton in East Sussex, England. Originally a "small but ancient fishing village" surrounded by open farmland, it grew rapidly in the 19th century in response to the development of its eastern neighbour Brighton, and by the Victorian era it was a fully developed town with borough status. Neighbouring parishes such as Aldrington and Hangleton were annexed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The neighbouring urban district of Portslade was merged with Hove in 1974. Arthur Wood (footballer Born 1894)
Arthur Wood (14 January 1894 – 8 April 1941) was an English goalkeeper who played for Southampton and Clapton Orient. He was the son of the England international forward, Harry Wood. Career Wood was born at Walsall, where his father was living whilst playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. His father's career took him to Southampton in 1898 where he remained until he retired. According to "The Alphabet of the Saints", "he had been taken to the Dell to watch his father but had been inspired by the exploits of two great Southampton 'keepers, Clawley and Robinson". Portslade
Portslade is a western suburb of the city of Brighton and Hove, England. Portslade Village, the original settlement a mile inland to the north, was built up in the 16th century. The arrival of the railway from Brighton in 1840 encouraged rapid development of the coastal area and in 1896 the southern part, formerly known as Copperas Gap, was granted urban district status and renamed Portslade-by-Sea, making it distinct from Portslade Village. After World War II the district of Mile Oak to the north was added.
