Perla gas field is a giant offshore gas field in the Gulf of Venezuela. It is located south of Gela field, about offshore at the Cardon IV block in water depths about . It covers area about . The field was discovered in 1976. Exploration activities were carried out in 2009. The Pearl-1 well, drilled by the jack-up rig ''Ensco 68'', encountered a hydrocarbon column with a production capacity of about of gas and of gas condensate. Perla Batalla (born 1964) is an American vocalist, composer and arranger who first gained international attention as a backup singer for Leonard Cohen before embarking on a solo career at his encouragement. Her debut album, ''Perla Batalla'', was released on Discovery Records in 1994. She formed her own record label, Mechuda Music, and released the album ''Mestiza'' (meaning of mixed blood) in 1998, making sales through her website.
