Peretz Kidron
Peretz Kidron (29 July 1933 – 6 November 2011) was an Israeli writer, journalist and translator. Biography He was born in Vienna, the son of Sara and Herman Kirchenbaum aywho were devoted Zionists and supporters of the Jewish state. His family escaped to Great Britain in 1938 following the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany. After completing his secondary education in Britain he emigrated to Israel, where he lived on and off in Kibbutz Zikim for about 15 years. Both of his children were born in the kibbutz. During this period he was sent by the kibbutz to the UK as a youth leader for the Zionist leftist youth movement Hashomer Hatzair, to prepare and bring Jewish youth to migrate to Israel. In the early 1970s, he graduated from Tel-Aviv University in English and translation. From the late 1960s, he became active in the Israeli peace movement. David Ben-Gurion
David Ben-Gurion ( ; he, דָּוִד בֶּן-גּוּרִיּוֹן ; born David Grün; 16 October 1886 – 1 December 1973) was the primary national founder of the State of Israel and the first prime minister of Israel. Adopting the name of Ben-Gurion in 1909, he rose to become the preeminent leader of the Jewish community in British-ruled Mandatory Palestine from 1935 until the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, which he led until 1963 with a short break in 1954–55. Kiryat Anavim
Kiryat Anavim ( he, קִרְיַת עֲנָבִים, ''lit.'' City of Grapes) is a kibbutz in the Judean Hills of Israel. It was the first kibbutz established in the Judean Hills. It is located west of Jerusalem, and falls under the jurisdiction of the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. In it had a population of . History The land on which the kibbutz stands was purchased from the neighboring village of Abu Ghosh, and the name ''Kiryat Anavim'' is a hebraization of ''Qaryat al-'Inab'' ( ar, قرية العنب), the older name of Abu Ghosh, which in turn is identified with the biblical town of Kiriath-Jearim. In 1912 the Abu Ghosh family sold thousands of dunams to Arthur Ruppin, who represented the Zionist movement. David K. Shipler (born December 3, 1942) is an American author and journalist. He won the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-fiction in 1987 for '' Arab and Jew: Wounded Spirits in a Promised Land''. Among his other publications the book entitled, '' The Working Poor: Invisible in America'', also has garnered many awards. Formerly, he was a foreign correspondent of ''The New York Times'' and served as one of their bureau chiefs. He has taught at many colleges and universities.
