Penarth Town Council
Penarth Town Council is an elected community council serving the town of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Background Penarth has had a council of one form or another since the 1890s. Penarth Town Council came into existence in 1974 at the same time as local government reorganisation. Town councillors represent Penarth's views on various committees and to wider public bodies. It gives out awards and grants. The council is responsible for Penarth Cemetery (which was originally acquired by Penarth Urban District Council in 1903) and the town allotments. The council also manages three important buildings in the town, namely West House (the council headquarters), The Paget Rooms (a theatre in the town centre) and The Kymin (a Georgian house near the seafront). St Augustine's (electoral Ward)
St Augustine's is an electoral ward in the town of Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It covers Penarth Head and Penarth Marina northeast of the town centre, including the parish church of St Augustine's. The ward elects three county councillors to Vale of Glamorgan Council and five councillors to Penarth Town Council. The ward is currently represented by the Labour Party. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 6,478. Mayor
In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Plymouth is an electoral ward in the town of Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It covers the more affluent part of the town south of the town centre. It stretches either side of Lavernock Road which includes Lower Penarth and Cosmeston (including Glamorganshire Golf Club and Cosmeston Lakes). A community council is a public representative body in Great Britain. In England they may be statutory parish councils by another name, under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, or they may be non-statutory bodies. In Scotland and Wales they are statutory bodies.
