Pehlivan
Pehlivan or Pahlevan derives from Iranian language word meaning ''noble'', ''wrestler'', ''hero'' or ''champion'' and it is a loan word in many Asiatic languages as well as middle eastern languages including Turkey, Turkish surname originally given to wrestlers. The name of Feyli (Pehli) Kurdistan, Kurds is also deriving from the same root word. The word consist of two Iranic (Aryen) word "pehli" or "pahli" and "van, wan". While ''peh, pah'' is root word for hero "van" or "wan" is a suffix similar as in "er, or" in soldier, warrior, wrestler, shopper. Barış Pehlivan
Barış Pehlivan (; born July 10, 1983) is a Turkish journalist and author. He is known for his investigative news and books on Turkish politics. He has been sued many times for his journalistic activities. He was imprisoned in 2011 and 2020 as part of these cases. Biography Barış Pehlivan graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism. In 2004, Barış Pehlivan worked as a reporter at ''Kaçak Yayın Dergisi'', an art magazine owned by the Leman Group. He worked as a project assistant, director’s assistant, and publisher respectively in the documentary programs named ‘Paranın Seyir Defteri’, ‘Şair Ceketli Çocuk: Kazım Koyuncu’, and ‘Nohut Oda Bakla Sofa’. Yasin Pehlivan
Yasin Pehlivan (born 5 January 1989) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Turkish club Sakaryaspor. He is also part of the Austria national team. Since his debut in 2009, he was capped 17 times. Club career Pehlivan began his career 1998 with Breitensee/Wat 16 (WS Ottakring) and signed in 2000 a loan deal with First Vienna FC. Ferhat Pehlivan
Ferhat Pehlivan (born August 20, 1988, in Akçaabat, Trabzon Province, Turkey) is a Turkish amateur boxer competing in the light-flyweight division. The tall boxer at was a member of the Karnet S.K. in Akçaabat, Trabzon before he transferred to Fenerbahçe Boxing. He is coached by Altar Kalkışım. He is a student at the Atatürk University in Erzurum. He won the bronze medal at the 2008 European Amateur Championships held in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Kurtdereli Mehmet Pehlivan (1864 in Bukurovo village near Tırnova – April 11, 1939 in Kurtdere village near Balıkesir) was a wrestler. He lived most of his life in the village of Kurtdere, 40 km from Balıkesir. He stood 6'5 (196 cm) tall and weighed 326 lb (148 kg).
