Paulding County High School
Paulding County High School is a public secondary school located in Paulding County, Georgia, United States. The school was established in 1969 and is the oldest high school still in operation in Paulding County. It was established to help end segregation issues in the county. Location Paulding County High School is located at 1297 Villa Rica Highway (Georgia State Route 61), about two miles south of downtown Dallas. Dallas, Georgia
Dallas is a city in, and the county seat of, Paulding County, Georgia, United States. The estimated population, as of 2010, was 11,544. Dallas is a northwestern exurb of Atlanta, located approximately from the downtown area. It was named for George M. Dallas, Vice President of the United States, under James K. Polk. History The area where in and around Dallas was originally held by the Muscogee people, but would eventually lose their land in battle to the Cherokee in 1755. The Paulding County School District is a public school district in Paulding County, Georgia, United States, based in Dallas. It serves the communities of Braswell, Dallas, and Hiram. Schools The Paulding County school district is composed of thirty-five schools as of 2012–13: twenty-one elementary schools, nine middle schools, and five high schools. After the 2011–12 school year, P.B. Ritch Elementary closed and a new middle school with the same name opened near Hiram the following year. In 2017, the school district re-opened the old P.B. Paulding County is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Part of the Atlanta metropolitan area, it had an estimated population of 168,661 in 2020. The county seat is Dallas. History Paulding County was created from Cherokee County by an act of the Georgia General Assembly on December 3, 1832. In 1851, a portion of Paulding County was used to help create Polk County. Georgia State Route 61
State Route 61 (SR 61) is a state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of Carroll, Douglas, Paulding, Bartow, Gordon, and Murray counties in the western and northwestern parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway connects the Carrollton area with the Tennessee state line, via Villa Rica, Dallas, Cartersville, and Chatsworth. The portion of the highway from just northeast of Carrollton to Villa Rica was formerly the path of US 78S. When that highway was decommissioned, it was redesignated as US 78 Alternate. The Battle of Dallas (May 28, 1864) was an engagement during the Atlanta Campaign in the American Civil War. The Union army of William Tecumseh Sherman and the Confederate States Army, Confederate army led by Joseph E. Johnston fought a series of battles between May 25 and June 3 along a front stretching northeast from Dallas, Georgia, Dallas toward Acworth, Georgia. At Dallas a probe launched by William B. Bate's and William Hicks Jackson's Confederate divisions accidentally turned into a full-scale assault against the defenses of John A. Logan's XV Corps (Union Army), XV Corps.
