Patrik Laine
Patrik Laine (; born 19 April 1998) is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League. Laine formerly played in his native Finland with Tappara in the Finnish Liiga before he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets. Early life Laine began playing hockey at four years old and he initially played every position. His primary position was goaltender which was his favorite position and his best at the time. Urged by his father, Laine permanently switched to forward when he was 12. Laine left school at age 16 to focus full-time on hockey. Playing career Tappara Laine started to play hockey in Ilves at age four, but soon changed to local competitor Tappara. Robert Malcomson McKenzie (born August 16, 1956) is a Canadian hockey commentator who has covered hockey since joining TSN in 1986. Stephen Dixon (born September 7, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre currently playing for Glasgow Clan of the EIHL, whom he joined in 2022. Playing career A first round pick for Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (QMJHL) in the 2001 Midget Draft, the Halifax native played his entire junior career with Cape Breton, despite being traded to the Val-d'Or Foreurs before the start of the 2005 season. Dixon was drafted in the seventh round, 229th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Jani Lajunen (born 16 June 1990) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with Örebro HK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He was selected by the Nashville Predators in the 7th round (201st overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Jussi Tapola (born June 13, 1974) is a Finnish ice hockey coach. He was the head coach for Kunlun Red Star in Beijing, China of the KHL. Career Tapola spent his playing days in Finnish lower leagues, mostly turning out for Ahmat Hyvinkää. From 2004 to 2009, he worked as a youth coach at HPK and was promoted to assistant of the club’s Liiga squad prior to the 2009-10 season. He then served as head coach of Finland’s junior-national teams until 2012. He joined the coaching staff of Liiga side Tappara as an assistant ahead of the 2012-13 campaign and was handed head coaching duties in 2014.
