Pat Vaulkhard
Patrick Vaulkhard (15 September 1911 – 1 April 1995) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire in 1934 and for Derbyshire between 1946 and 1952, being captain in 1950. Vaulkhard was born in Nottingham. He debuted for Nottinghamshire Second XI in the Minor Counties Championship at the age of nineteen in June 1931. He made his first-class debut for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship in 1934, and played a total of nine matches in the season without much success. He took his sole first-class wicket as a bowler against Sussex in June of that year. Vaulkhard was a protégé of Sir Julien Cahn playing in several of his teams in the 1930s. In 1939 he played one season for Northumberland. Vaulkhard returned to first-class cricket in the 1946 season, becoming one of the first post-war debutants for Derbyshire. George Davidson (cricketer)
George Arthur Davidson (29 June 1866 – 8 February 1899) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Derbyshire between 1886 and 1898 and for Marylebone Cricket Club between 1888 and 1898. A useful all-rounder, he scored over 5500 runs and took 621 wickets in his first-class career. Davidson was born in Brimington, Derbyshire, the son of Josh Davidson, a coal miner and his wife Elizabeth. His father played one game annually for Derbyshire from 1871 to 1875. Davidson's first-class career began for Derbyshire in the 1886 season playing in the first match of the season against Marylebone Cricket Club, a game where he played in the lower order. He played regularly for the rest of the season. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Wilderness years 1888–1893 From 1888 Derbyshire's matches were not accorded first class status. However the club continued to play first class counties and most of the players carried on with the club. David Skinner (cricketer)
David Anthony Skinner (22 March 1920 – 17 January 1998) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire in 1947 and captained the side in 1949. Skinner was born in Duffield and educated at The Leys School. From 1938 he played various games for Derbyshire second XI and for the Club and Ground until 1947, apart from in the interruption of the Second World War. Skinner made his first-class debut in one match in 1947, but in 1948 played only for the second XI. Skinner was appointed as county captain for the 1949 season in accordance with the tradition of amateur captaincy. Skinner himself was a modest performer, though in this he was no different from the other amateurs – Gilbert Hodgkinson and Edward Gothard – who had captained an otherwise entirely professional side since the Second World War. Guy Willatt
Guy Longfield Willatt (7 May 1918 – 11 June 2003) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Cambridge University from 1938 to 1947, for Nottinghamshire from 1939 to 1948, for Scotland from 1948 to 1950 and for Derbyshire from 1950 to 1956. He was captain of Derbyshire from 1951 to 1954 and also played for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). Willatt was born at The Park, Nottingham. He was educated at Repton School and St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He played cricket for Cambridge University, two years before the war and at the same time performed in the second and first team at Nottinghamshire. However his university education was interrupted by the Second World War, when he served as an officer in the Royal Artillery. He still played for Nottinghamshire teams during the war. Derbyshire County Cricket Club In 1950
Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1950 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for seventy-nine years. It was their forty-sixth season in the County Championship and they won eight matches in the County Championship to finish in fifth place. 1950 season Derbyshire played 28 matches in the County Championship, one against Oxford University and one against the touring West Indies. Pat Vaulkhard was captain. Alan Revill scored most runs, and Albert Rhodes took most wickets with 125. Guy Willatt joined Derbyshire as designated captain but was hampered by injury and did not fill the role until the following season. Derek Morgan who also joined was another future captain and played until 1969. A third key played making his debut was Arnold Hamer who scored over 15,000 runs over ten years.
