Pascal Ickx
Pascal Ickx (born March 30, 1937, in Lubbeek) is a Belgian former racing driver that competed on circuits for Grand Touring sports cars in the 1960s. He is the son of the gentleman-driver and journalist Jacques Ickx, and the older brother of Jacky Ickx. Racing career Pascal Ickx's first appearance in racing came in the late 1950s where he made an appearance in the 1959 Liège-Rome-Liège driving a Saab. The following year in 1960, he would appear in the Liège-Rome-Liège again driving a BMW 700. That same year, he would drive in the 12 Hours of Huy finishing 32nd. He also made several appearances in World Rally Cars, most notably the ADAC Rallye Tour d'Europe in 1963 driving a Fiat 2300. Lubbeek () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Binkom, Linden, Lubbeek proper and Pellenberg. Fiat 2300
The Fiat 2300 is a six-cylinder executive car which was produced by Italian automotive manufacturer Fiat between 1961 and 1969. The 2300 was made as saloon (styled by Dante Giacosa), estate car and coupé. The 2300 saloon is noteworthy as in 1966 it became the first Fiat model to be available with an automatic transmission. 2300 Coupé Alongside saloon and estate models the 2300 range included Ghia-designed grand tourers, the Fiat 2300 Coupé and 2300S Coupé—the latter fitted with a more powerful engine with double twin-choke carburettors. The shape of the car was first seen in public when Ghia presented it as a prototype sports coupé at the 1960 Turin Motor Show. A production version, based on the newly launched Fiat 2300 saloon was presented in 1961 and went on general sale in 1962. The rally is held on very dusty, rough, rocky and fast mountain roads in mainland Greece, usually during the Greek hot summer period. The Alpine Rally, also known by its official name Coupe des Alpes, was a rally competition based in Marseille and held from 1932 to 1971. In the 1950s and the 1960s, it was among the most prestigious rallies in the world and featured an international route, consisting of famous mountain passes in Europe. A World Rally Car is a racing automobile built to the specific regulations set by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and designed for competition in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The BMW 700 is a small rear-engined car which was produced by BMW in various models from August 1959 to November 1965. It was the first BMW automobile with a monocoque structure. The 700 was a sales success at a time when BMW was close to financial ruin.
