Partex Group is one of the largest family-run conglomerates in Bangladesh, consisting of over 70 factories. The industries under this conglomerate include foods and beverages, steel, real estate, furniture, agribusiness, plastics, etc. History It started in 1962, by industrialist M. A. Hashem with commodity trading. Now it owns over 70 subsidiaries from tobacco to consumer goods, furniture, textile and the IT sector. It has split into two groups to improve management of its subsidiaries - Partex Holdings and Partex Star Group. M. A. Hashem (30 August 1943 – 24 December 2020) was a Bangladeshi businessman and the founding chairman of Partex Group. He served as member of Parliament from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) is a private commercial bank in Bangladesh that is not a foreign bank (FCB) and is listed in Dhaka's stock exchange, as well as the Chittagong Stock Exchange. It was established in 1983, twelve years after independence. History The bank was incorporated on 26 June 1983. The government owns shares in the bank. Partex Sporting Club is a team that has played List A cricket in the Dhaka Premier League in 2014–15, 2016–17 and 2019–20. It is owned by the Partex Group of companies. Playing history Promoted from the lower division, Partex won their first match in 2014-15 but finished the season with only three wins from 13 matches, and were demoted for the 2015–16 season. In 2015-16 they finished first in Group A of the non-List-A Dhaka First Division League, and were promoted back to the Dhaka Premier League for 2016–17.
