Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Players who are successful on the Challenge Tour qualify for membership of the European Tour the following year. Twenty players earn direct promotion to the European Tour. Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, the winner is the player who has taken the fewest strokes over the course of the round, or rounds. Álvaro Salto
Álvaro Salto Johansson (born 11 January 1974) is a Spanish professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour. Salto represented Spain in the Eisenhower Trophy in 1996 with Sergio García, José Manuel Lara and Ivo Giner. He turned professional the following year. Salto joined the Challenge Tour in 1998 and won the Eulen Open Galea in his rookie season. He picked up his second win on Tour in 2000 at the Credit Suisse Private Banking Open. In 2001 he went through qualifying school to earn his European Tour card for 2002. He struggled in his rookie season but earned his Tour card for 2003 through qualifying school. He returned to the Challenge Tour in 2004 and remained on Tour until 2008. He picked up his third win on Tour in 2006 at the Parco di Monza Challenge. 2006 Challenge Tour
The 2006 Challenge Tour was the 18th season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. The Challenge Tour Rankings were won by Wales' Mark Pilkington. Frenchman Adrien Mörk shot the first 59 in the history of the PGA European Tour's three tours at the Tikida Hotels Agadir Moroccan Classic.
