Paige Conners
Paige Conners (born 9 April 2000) is an American-Israeli pair skater. With her skating partner, Evgeni Krasnopolski, she is the 2017 CS Minsk-Arena Ice Star bronze medalist. She competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Figure Skating in pairs skating and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Personal life Conners was born on April 9, 2000, in Pittsford, New York, United States, the daughter of Karen (a reading teacher) and Mark Conners (a dentist) Her mother, who is from Buffalo, has Israeli citizenship. She later moved to Edgewater, New Jersey. She has dual American-Israeli citizenship. Career Conners began learning to skate in 2003. Representing Israel in ladies' singles, she placed 27th at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei, Taiwan. She was coached by Galit Chait, Gilberto Viadana, and Michela Boschetto. 2018 European Figure Skating Championships
The 2018 European Figure Skating Championships were held in January 2018 in Moscow, Russia. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held March 15–19, 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei). Commonly called "World Juniors" and "Junior Worlds", the event determined the World Junior champions in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Pair champions Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya / Harley Windsor became the first skaters representing Australia to win gold at an ISU Figure Skating Championships. The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior singles and pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds. The pair skating competition of the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea. The short program was held on 14 February and the free skating on 15 February 2018. Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot became Olympic champions after finishing fourth in the short program and setting a record with their score in the free program to take the gold by 0.43 points. Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, leading after the short program, made a couple of mistakes in the free program and won silver. Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford were third. Figure Skating At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Qualification
The following is about the qualification rules and allocation of spots for the figure skating events at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Qualification system A total of 148 quota spots are available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of 18 athletes can be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 9 men or 9 women. A further ten team trophy quotas can be distributed to countries qualifying for the team event, but not the discipline itself. This means up to a maximum of 158 athletes can partake. If these additional ten quotas are not used, then the host (South Korea) may use them to qualify for each event, but may not qualify for the team event by use of these additional quotas.
