PVSK Panthers
PVSK-Panthers, for sponsorship reasons known as PVSK-Veolia or simply Pécs, is the men's basketball club based in Pécs, Hungary. It were the oldest non- Budapest based basketball club playing in the NB I/A, the first division until 2022. They played 53 seasons in the top division, which is the second most after MAFC. PVSK-Panthers won one trophy in its history: the Hungarian Cup in 2009. History The team was founded in 1944, they played in the 1st division from 1946 to 1950, then after 4 year, from 1955 to 1985 continuously (with once in 1972 in the 2nd league). In 1985 they fall to the 2nd, in 1992 to the 3rd league. In 1994 they moved to Pécsvárad. In 2000 they won the 3rd division and moved back to Pécs, in 2003 they returned into the top flight. In 2009 they won the regular season and the Hungarian Cup, and finished runner-up in the play-offs. In Pécs, there was another basketball team. Krisztián Wittmann (born 22 May 1985) is a Hungarian professional basketball player, currently with Kecskeméti TE of the Hungarian NB I/A league. He represented the Hungarian national basketball team at the EuroBasket 2017 qualification, where he recorded most steals for his team. Dragan Aleksić (basketball)
Dragan Aleksić ( sr-cyr, Драган Алексић; born 1 May 1970), also credited as Dragan Alekszics in Hungary, is a Serbian professional basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as the head coach for PVSK-Veolia of the Hungarian League. Playing career Aleksić started his professional career in Belgrade-based team Crvena zvezda. In 1991, he joined Spartak Subotica. In 1998, he joined Radnički Belgrade for the 1998–99 season. Aleksić played the 1999–2000 season in Israel, for Haifa. After the season in Israel, Aleksić had stints in Slovakia ( Slovakofarma Pezinok) and Russia ( Lokomotiv Mineralnye Vody). In 2001, Aleksić joined Tuzla-based Sloboda Dita of the ABA League and the Bosnia and Herzegovina Championship. Stojan Ivković
Stojan Ivković ( sr-cyr, Стојан Ивковић; born February 5, 1966) is a Montenegrin professional basketball coach and former player. He currently works as a head coach for the Hungary national team and as a head coach for the Kaposvári KK of the Hungarian First League. Playing career Ivković started his basketball career playing with the youth teams of his hometown team Kotor. In 1981, at 15 years of age, he signed a 5-year contract with the Budućnost of the Yugoslav Federal League. The following year he moved to the Rabotnički from Skopje where he played in the Yugoslav League until 1987. In the same year he moved to the Spartak Subotica, where he played for five years. Zoltán Horváth (basketball)
Zoltán Horváth (27 September 1979 – 28 December 2009) was a Hungarian professional basketball player. He played for the Hungarian national basketball team from 2005 to 2009. Horváth began his career on senior level in 2003 with the team of the PVSK Panthers from Pécs. He soon became the leading rebounder of the team, and in 2005 moved to the Hungarian league's defending champion, Atomerőmű SE. There, Horváth won the domestic championship and reached the national cup's final in his first year, and played in the FIBA EuroCup the following season. In 2007, he was signed by PAOK Thessaloniki, but played just four games for them before returning to Atomerőmű. Horváth then again became part of the defending domestic champion's roster, in that case Falco KC Szombathely. 2015–16 FIBA Europe Cup
The 2015–16 FIBA Europe Cup was the inaugural season of the newly formed basketball competition organised by FIBA. The season started on 21 October 2015 and ended on 1 May 2016. The competition replaced the EuroChallenge and had the aim to take the place of Eurocup (organised by Euroleague Basketball), as the second-tier competition in Europe. Format In the Regular season, 56 teams are divided into 14 groups of four teams. In the Round of 32, the first and second best teams from the Regular season play in groups of four.
