Péter Szényi
Péter Szényi (born 18 March 1987) is a Hungarian épée fencer, team world champion in 2013. Career Szényi took up fencing after coaches Gábor and Kornél Udvarhelyi came at his school for a sports recruitment event. His first coach was Bertalan Szőcs, who remains his master . He won a team silver medal in the 2006 Junior European Championships in Poznan and an individual silver medal in the 2008 U23 European Championships in Monza. He joined the senior Hungarian team in 2011 and won with them a silver medal in the 2011 World Championships in Catania. The next year he climbed his first individual World Cup podium with a bronze medal in Buenos Aires. He took a team silver medal at the 2012 European Championships in Legnano, then at the 2013 edition in Zagreb. Fencing World Cup
The FIE Fencing World Cup is an international fencing competition held by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime. In each weapon (Men's and Women's Épée, Sabre and Foil), three Grand Prix, five World Cup events and several satellite events are contested each season. The five top results as well as the Olympic Games or World Fencing Championships and zonal championships results are taken into account for each fencer's rankings. For teams, up to five World Cup events are held each year. Fencing
Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. A fourth discipline, singlestick, appeared in the 1904 Olympics but was dropped after that and is not a part of modern fencing. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics. Based on the traditional skills of swordsmanship, the modern sport arose at the end of the 19th century, with the Italian school having modified the historical European martial art of classical fencing, and the French school later refining the Italian system.
