Morgan County, Missouri
Morgan County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,565. Its county seat is Versailles. The county was organized January 5, 1833 and named for General Daniel Morgan of the American Revolutionary War. History Morgan County was organized in 1833 upon separation from Cooper County. It is named in honor of Revolutionary War General Daniel Morgan. Versailles, with a name referring to the French royal estate near Paris, France, was designated as the county seat and platted in 1854. Route 135 is a highway in central Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Interstate 70/ U.S. Route 40/ Route 41 west of Boonville; its southern terminus is at Route 5 near the Lake of the Ozarks. It passes through Cooper, Pettis, and Morgan counties. Stover, Missouri
Stover is a city in Morgan County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,094 at the 2010 census. Geography Stover is located in western Morgan County at the intersection of Missouri routes 52 and 135. Versailles is approximately seven miles to the east and Cole Camp is about eleven miles to the west in adjacent Benton County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. History A post office called Stover has been in operation since 1875. The community has the name of John Hubler Stover, a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Stover was laid out at its current site in 1905 when the railroad was extended to that point.
