Pyotr Petrovich Bulakhov (Петр Петрович Булахов; 1822 in Moscow – 2 December 1885 in Kuskovo) was a Russian composer. His father: singer Pyotr Alexandrovich Bulakhov (ru: Петр Александрович Булахов, (1793?–1837), his brother: singer and composer Pavel Petrovich Bulakhov (ru: Павел Петрович Булахов, 1824–1875). Kuskovo
Kuskovo (russian: Куско́во) was the summer country house and estate of the Sheremetev family. Built in the mid-18th century, it was originally situated several miles to the east of Moscow but now is part of the East District of the city. It was one of the first great summer country estates of the Russian nobility, and one of the few near Moscow still preserved. Today the estate is the home of the Russian State Museum of Ceramics, and the park is a favourite place of recreation for Muscovites. Evgenija Ivanovna Zbrueva
Evgenija Ivanovna Zbrueva (December 26, 1867 or January 7, 1868 – 20 October 1936), in Russian Евге́ния Ива́новна Збру́ева, was a Russian contralto opera singer. Early life Zbrueva was born in Moscow, the daughter of composer Pyotr Bulakhov. (Her surname came from her mother's first husband, because her parents were not legally married.) She trained as a singer at the Moscow Conservatory, under E. A. Lavrovskaya. Career Zbrueva was a contralto in the Moscow Imperial Opera at the Bolshoi Theatre from 1894, and with the Mariinsky Theatre from 1905 until 1918, including appearances in Paris and Munich. In 1915 she was appointed Professor of Singing at Petrograd Conservatory. She was named an Honored Artist of the USSR in 1922. Georg Martin Adolf von Henselt (9 or 12 May 181410 October 1889) was a German composer and virtuoso pianist. Life Henselt was born at Schwabach, in Bavaria. At the age of three he began to learn the violin, and at five the piano under Josephe von Flad (1778-1843), who had trained in composition with Franz Danzi, Abbé (George Joseph) Vogler, Joseph Graetz and studied piano with Franz Lauska (who later coached Meyerbeer, Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn). His concert debut was at the Odeon in Munich, where he played the opening Allegro to one of Mozart's C major concertos, a free fantasy with variations on a theme from Weber's ''Der Freischütz'', and a rondo by Kalkbrenner. It was through Flad's influence with King Ludwig I of Bavaria that Henselt was provided the financial means to undertake further study with Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) in Weimar in 1832 for some months. "Shine, Shine, My Star" (russian: "Гори, гори, моя звезда") is an acclaimed Russian romance. The authorship of the song was uncertain for some time, being ascribed to various people, including Nikolay Gumilyov and Ivan Bunin. A popular belief attributed it to Russian Admiral Aleksandr Kolchak until the 1847 sheet music was found in archives. According to Russian romance researcher Yelena Ukolova, the song was created amid celebrations of the 700th anniversary of Moscow in January 1847. The music was composed by Pyotr Bulakhov (Петр Булахов), and the lyrics written by student Vladimir Chuyevsky (Владимир Чуевский). However, the romance did not become popular until the eve of World War I when singer Vladimir Sabinin re-arranged it. The breakthrough came in 1915 when Sabinin's gramophone record appeared.
