Pyeongchang United FC, formerly Gwangju Gwangsan FC and Pyeongchang FC until 2014 and 2019 respectively is a South Korean association football, football club based in the city of Pyeongchang. The team currently play of the K4 League, a semi-professional league and the fourth tier of football in South Korea. History Founder club, relocation, and disbandment Gwangju Gwangsan FC was founded in 2008 based in Gwangju play first season from 2008 until 2014, the team relocated to Pyeongchang and change name to Pyeongchang FC in 2015 until 2019, the team was disbanded in 2019. Refounded of Pyeongchang United (2021–present) On March 5, 2021, it was founded as Pyeongchang United and re-founded as a semi-successor of Pyeongchang FC, which was disbanded in 2019, and will participate in the K4 League from the 2021 season. 2021 K4 League
The 2021 K4 League is the second season of the K4 League as a semi-professional league and the fourth tier of South Korean football league system. Paju Citizen are the defending champions and was promoted together with Ulsan Citizen (the runner-up) to 2021 K3 League. Chuncheon Citizen and Jeonju Citizen were relegated from 2020 K3 League and will play in the K4 League for the first time. Icheon Citizen have disbanded due to financial problems and haven't registered for the league, while Yeoju Citizen (now Yeoju FC) has submitted a new entry in the competition after first announcing their disbandment. 2019 K3 League Basic
The 2019 K3 League Basic was the third and last season of the K3 League Basic. Eight teams competed in the league for 21 rounds. Ulsan Citizen joined the league in the 2019 season. For 2020, the former Korea National League was absorbed into the K League or K3 League and rebranding as K3 League and K4 League. Competition format The 2019 season ran from March to October. Eight teams competed in a single division. Each team played each other 3 times for a total of 21 games. After the regular season, the top two teams were directly promoted to the 2020 K3 League. The 2017 K3 League Basic was the first season of the K3 League Basic. The top 12 teams from 2016 K3 League remained in the league renamed 2017 K3 League Advanced, and the remaining 8 teams were relegated to this new league. Yeonggwang FC withdrew this season, with two new teams Busan FC and Pyeongtaek G-SMATT FC joining. Competition format The 2017 season ran from March through to October. 2016 K3 League
The 2016 K3 League was the tenth season of amateur K3 League. Before the start of the 2016 season, Seoul FC Martyrs withdrew from the league, but Buyeo FC, Siheung Citizen and Yangpyeong FC joined the league. The top five teams of the regular season qualified for the championship playoffs, and winners of the regular season advanced to the final directly. On the other hand, eight teams of participating teams had to be relegated to the K3 League Basic, founded as the second division of the K3 League in 2017.
