Pwllheli Sailing Club
Pwllheli Sailing Club is a yacht club in Pwllheli, Wales, founded in 1958. Over the years its clubhouse has moved several times, and it has also become an organiser of national and international yachting and dinghy sailing events. After a year's development Pwllheli Sailing Club has a new events centre (as of July 2015). The £8.5 million investment came from the European Union to help develop the area, and the academy has been a host to multiple events since its opening. Location The club is located on the western side of the harbour near to the Glanydon Beach, and is within walking distance of the town. The club has dinghy storage compounds adjacent to the beach, and boats launch from the beach. Harbour The club overlooks the harbour and marina. Pwllheli
Pwllheli () is a market town and community of the Llŷn Peninsula ( cy, Penrhyn Llŷn) in Gwynedd, north-western Wales. It had a population of 4,076 in 2011 of whom a large proportion, 81%, are Welsh language, Welsh speaking. Pwllheli is the place where Plaid Cymru was founded. It is the birthplace of the Welsh poet Albert Evans-Jones, Sir Albert Evans-Jones (bardic name ''Cynan''). Pwllheli has a range of shops and other services. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the largest charity that saves lives at sea around the coasts of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man, as well as on some inland waterways. The Cadet is a class of sailing dinghy designed to be sailed by two children up to the age of 17. It is a one-design class, originally designed by Jack Holt (dinghy designer), Jack Holt in 1947. Wednesfield is a town and historic village in the City of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, It is east-northeast of Wolverhampton city centre and about from Birmingham and is part of the West Midlands conurbation. Merlin Rocket
The Merlin Rocket is a dinghy sailed in the United Kingdom. It is an active class, now with over 3700 boats built. The boat designed around a box rule, meaning that all class boats need to be within a certain length and width, but can be any shape. This allows for quick modernization of the class. The great advantage to this is quick adoption to new technology and the ability to change a boat to a person's weight and ability. Although the rules allow for many sail plans, many modern Rockets have similar sails. Most have a high batten allowing for a large roach in the sail. Although the rules are open, they are not unlimited. Use of a Trapeze is forbidden in this class. When competing in a mixed fleet, the Merlin Rocket uses a Portsmouth Yardstick handicap of 1002 in the RYA scheme and 77.9 in the US Sailing scheme.
