Punk Goes Acoustic
''Punk Goes Acoustic'' is the third album in the '' Punk Goes...'' series and the first installment in the ''Punk Goes Acoustic'' series created by Fearless Records. It contains a collection of both previously released and unreleased songs by various artists performing acoustically. It was packaged with a bonus CD showcasing acts on the Fearless and Victory record labels. The album was released on October 21, 2003. This was the first ''Punk Goes...'' album to deviate from the theme of performing cover songs, though it was not the first to feature an original song, following The Aquabats "Why Rock?" on ''Punk Goes Metal''. As of 2019, there are a total of three albums in the franchise. Punk Goes
''Punk Goes...'' is a series of pop albums released by Fearless Records in which punk rock bands perform covers of songs from other genres. As of 2019, the series consists of nineteen compilation albums. Though predominantly a series of cover albums, ''Punk Goes Acoustic'', '' Punk Goes Acoustic 2'', and '' Punk Goes Acoustic Vol. 3'' deviate from this theme, featuring acoustic versions of original songs by the featured bands. 2013's ''Punk Goes Christmas'' and 2015 rerelease of ''Punk Goes Christmas'' titled '' Punk Goes Christmas: Deluxe Edition'' features a mix of both Christmas-themed original songs and covers. Similarly, the series' first installment, 2000's '' Punk Goes Metal'', consists of covers with the exception of "Why Rock?" performed by The Aquabats, which was an original song credited to a fictitious band called "Leather Pyrate". "Memory" is a single by the band Sugarcult released in 2004. "Memory" was released to radio on March 16, 2004. The song is featured on their fourth studio album, '' Palm Trees and Power Lines''. So Long, Astoria
''So Long, Astoria'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Ataris, released on March 4, 2003. The album's title song alludes to the 1985 film ''The Goonies'', which is set in Astoria, Oregon. Background In February 2001, The Ataris released their third album '' End Is Forever'' through independent label Kung Fu Records. In May, vocalist/guitarist Kris Roe revealed that the group would start writing for their next album later in the year. In June, guitarist Marco Peña left the group due to creative and personal differences. He was replaced by their guitar tech John Collura, formerly of the band Beefcake. Roe said Collura "definitely brought us back to eing thebest of friends", as well making them "realize that this band has got a lot of life in it". The Ataris are an American punk rock band from Anderson, Indiana. Formed in 1996, they released five studio albums between 1997 and 2007. Their best-selling album is ''So Long, Astoria'' (2003), which was certified gold. Their high-charting single is the cover song " The Boys of Summer" from ''So Long, Astoria''. The only constant member throughout their history has been singer/songwriter/guitarist Kristopher Roe. History Kung Fu Records (1996–2001) Formed on November 1, 1996, the band originally consisted of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Kristopher Roe and guitarist Jasin Thomason. Using a 4-track, Roe wrote and recorded demos in his bedroom, using a drum machine while he searched for a full-time drummer. ''An American Paradox'' is the fourth album by punk band Strung Out, released by Fat Wreck Chords. The album was the band's first to debut on the ''Billboard'' 200. This is their first album with current bassist, Chris Aiken. Background and production In August 2000, the band were shopping around different labels for their next album. Around this time, the band were writing a lot of material while on tour, with the aim of releasing an album in early 2001, which was reportedly titled ''American Paradox''. Shortly afterwards, they toured the US and Canada with No Motiv in September 2000, and the US with Papa Roach in November 2000. ''An American Paradox'' was recorded at Westbeach Recorders in Hollywood, California, with the band acting as producers. Strung Out is an American punk rock band from Simi Valley, California, formed in 1989. They are known mainly for their musical style, which fuses aspects of melodic punk rock, progressive rock and heavy metal to form their primary sound. They have released nine studio albums on Fat Wreck Chords as well as one Live album, 2 B-sides collections, a best-of, a box set and appeared on numerous compilations and skate/surf/dirt bike/offroading videos. ''The Make Yourself at Home EP'' is an acoustic EP by American pop punk band The Starting Line released on 25 November 2003. History ''The Make Yourself at Home EP'' contains six acoustic songs, including five new songs and an acoustic version of "The Best of Me", previously released as an electric version on The Starting Line's 2002 studio album, ''Say It Like You Mean It''. The enhanced version of the EP contains video footage of the band performing unreleased tracks, titled "Classic Jazz" and "Surprise, Surprise". The Starting Line
The Starting Line is an American pop punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that formed in 1999. History Early years (1999–2001) In 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an e-mail from guitarist Matthew "Matt" K. Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the 14-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. Only a few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future band-mates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz. It was released on April 10, 2001, through Victory Records, to whom the band signed after leaving Eyeball Records. With the addition of guitarist Steve Pedulla, recording sessions for the album were held in November 2000 at Big Blue Meenie Recording Studios in Jersey City. ''What It Is to Burn'' is the debut album by American rock band Finch. It was released on March 12, 2002, through MCA and Drive-Thru Records. After finalizing their line-up, Finch signed to Drive-Thru. Recording for the album took place between June and September 2001 with producer Mark Trombino. A music video for " Letters to You" was released in January 2003. The title-track " What Is It to Burn" was released as the lead single in January 2003, followed by the single "Letters to You" in April of that year. "New Beginnings"/"What It Is to Burn" was released as the third and final single on a double A-side in August 2003.
