Punjab Democratic Alliance was formed by Punjab Ekta Party leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira to contest 2019 Indian general election in Punjab on all 13 Lok Sabha seats. PDA was part of the nationwide Mahagathbandhan, and projected Mayawati as its prime ministerial face. Campaign On 12 May 2019, BSP-PDA held a massive rally at Langroya village, Nawanshahr and BSP national president Mayawati campaigned for all 13 PDA candidates of Punjab including Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Simarjit Singh Bains alongside BSP candidates former journalist Balwinder Kumar from Jalandhar, retired IAS officer Khushi Ram from Hoshiarpur and international polo player Vikram Singh Sodhi from Anandpur Sahib. Punjab Ekta Party
The Punjab Ekta Party was a political party in India, founded by Sukhpal Singh Khaira on 8 January 2019. It was a Punjab-centric regional party which later merged with Indian National Congress on 17 June 2021. History *Sukhpal Khaira was elected in 2017 from the Bholath constituency on the ticket of the Aam Aadmi Party. After the resignation of H. S. Phoolka as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Khaira was appointed as his replacement. However, due to differences with central leadership he was eventually sacked from the post. *On 6 January 2019 he resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and on 8 January formed new party. Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) was an Indian political party which was formed by Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Rattan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan on 16 December 2018. On 4 November 2018, Shiromani Akali Dal expelled Sewa Singh Sekhwan the former Punjab Minister and then on 12 November 2018 expelled Ranjit Singh Brahmpura MP from Khadoor Sahib (Lok Sabha constituency), Rattan Singh Ajnala former MP, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura and Amarpal Singh Ajnala from the party. Mangat Ram Pasla
Mangat Ram Pasla is an Indian politician. He was a Central Committee member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), but was expelled from the party in December 2001. He had previously been the Secretary of the Punjab State Committee of the party. Pasla was one of the most prominent leaders of CPI(M) in Doaba belt. He was also the General Secretary of the Punjab unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions. The expulsion of Pasla came a day after he had announced the holding of a parallel state conference of the CPI(M) in Punjab. Tensions between Pasla's group and followers of the CPI(M) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet had simmered in the Punjab unit of CPI(M) for some time.
