King David I
David I or Dauíd mac Maíl Choluim (Scottish Gaelic language, Modern: ''Daibhidh I mac [Mhaoil] Chaluim''; – 24 May 1153) was a 12th-century ruler who was David, Prince of the Cumbrians, Prince of the Cumbrians from 1113 to 1124 and later King of Scotland from 1124 to 1153. The youngest son of Malcolm III and Margaret of Wessex, David spent most of his childhood in Scotland, but was exiled to England temporarily in 1093. Perhaps after 1100, he became a dependent at the court of King Henry I of England, Henry I. There he was influenced by the Anglo-French culture of the court. When David's brother Alexander I of Scotland, Alexander I died in 1124, David chose, with the backing of Henry I, to take the Kingdom of Scotland (Kingdom of Alba, Alba) for himself. He was forced to engage in warfare against his rival and nephew, Máel Coluim mac Alaxandair. Subduing the latter seems to have taken David ten years, a struggle that involved the destruction of Óengus of Moray, Óengus, Mo ...

''Naked Video'' is a BBC Scotland sketch show that was aired on BBC2 from 12 May 1986 to 18 November 1991. The show was created by Colin Gilbert who had previously created ''A Kick Up the Eighties'' and ''Naked Radio'' (the latter being a radio sketch show that was aired on BBC Radio Scotland, began its ten-year run on 22 January 1981, covered all aspects of Scottish society and featured a lot of topical satire material rather than parody). The series originally starred Ron Bain, Gregor Fisher, Andy Gray, Elaine C. Smith, Tony Roper, Helen Lederer and Jonathan Watson, but they were later joined by Kate Donnelly and Louise Beattie. The series' producer was Colin Gilbert and its script editor was Philip Differ. Dukla Pumpherston
Dukla Pumpherston is a charity football team based in Scotland, and is captained by Scottish football pundit Chick Young. The name was based on the fictional team "Dukla Pumpherston Sawmill and Tannery" created by Tony Roper in 1980s comedy programme '' Naked Radio''; the name is a comic juxtaposition of the sophisticated European-sounding name of Czech team Dukla Prague with that of tiny Scottish village Pumpherston. Roper himself has also played for the team. The players have been described as a motley crew of former professional players and television personalities who tour the country - indeed the world - enjoying themselves while raising cash for worthy causes. They have been described as "a drinking team with a football problem". The ''ad hoc'' roster (or that of similarly informal opposing charity teams) has, at various times, included football broadcaster Chic Charnley, politician Tommy Sheridan, boxer Willie Limond, airport worker John Smeaton, and footballers Ally McC ...

Etymology The name Broxburn is a corruption of "brock's burn", brock being an old Scots name for a badger whether from the Gaelic ''broc'' or the Pictish/Welsh/Brythonic ''Broch'' and burn (landform), burn being a Scots word for a large stream or small river. The village was earlier known as Easter Strathbrock (Uphall was Wester Strathbrock) with Strath coming either from the Gaelic ''srath'' or the Pictish/Welsh/Brythonic ''ystrad'' meaning a river valley. History The village that later became Broxburn probably originated around 1350 when Margery le Cheyne inherited the eastern half of the Barony of Strathbrock (Easter Strathbrock) on the death of her father, Sir Reginald le Cheyne III. The hamlet that grew up around her reside ...
