Its remaining range covers less than and it is highly threatened by habitat loss, fishing, and competition with/predation by introduced species. The Ptychochrominae are a subfamily in the cichlid family of fish. It includes about 14 species. They are restricted to lakes and rivers in Madagascar, and the majority are threatened. Extinction is the termination of a kind of organism or of a group of kinds (taxon), usually a species. Species
In biology, a species is the basic unit of classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity.
