Nematode
The nematodes ( or grc-gre, Νηματώδη; la, Nematoda) or roundworms constitute the phylum Nematoda (also called Nemathelminthes), with plant-Parasitism, parasitic nematodes also known as eelworms. They are a diverse animal phylum inhabiting a broad range of environments. Less formally, they are categorized as Helminths, but are taxonomically classified along with Arthropod, arthropods, Tardigrade, tardigrades and other moulting animalia, animals in the clade Ecdysozoa, and unlike platyhelminthe, flatworms, have tubular digestion, digestive systems with openings at both ends. Like tardigrades, they have a reduced number of Hox genes, but their sister phylum Nematomorpha has kept the ancestral protostome Hox genotype, which shows that the reduction has occurred within the nematode phylum. Nematode species can be difficult to distinguish from one another. Consequently, estimates of the number of nematode species described to date vary by author and may change rapidly over ... Pterygodermatites Peromysci
''Pterygodermatites peromysci'' is an intestinal parasitic nematode in the genus ''Pterygodermatites'' of the family Rictulariidae. Hosts Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies of ''Pterygodermatites peromysci'' have not been conducted yet, but might provide scientists with an understanding about how it causes pathology in the gastrointestinal tract of the host, as worms have been found in vitro as large as 38 mm in a host mouse with a body length size of 90 mm. In a case where 8 of these adult worms were discovered in a mouse, it was noted that the mouse had a very inflamed and damaged gut from the internal damage of pressure on host tissues (1). However, scanning electron microscopy studies have been conducted on ''Pterygodermatites bovieri'' in which the definitive host is bats (2) and on ''Pterygodermatites mesopectines'' which has been noted to parasitize a commensal rodent, ''Mastomys natalensis'' (3) so a comparison SEM study of the morphology of the head o ... Oryzomys Gorgasi
''Oryzomys gorgasi'', also known as Gorgas's oryzomysMusser and Carleton, 2005, p. 1148 or Gorgas's rice rat, is a rodent in the genus ''Oryzomys'' of family Cricetidae. First recorded in 1967, it is known from only a few localities, including a freshwater swamp in the lowlands of northwestern Colombia and a mangrove islet in northwestern Venezuela. It reportedly formerly occurred on the island of Curaçao off northwestern Venezuela; this extinct population has been described as a separate species, ''Oryzomys curasoae'', but does not differ morphologically from mainland populations. ''Oryzomys gorgasi'' is a medium-sized, brownish species with large, semiaquatically specialized feet. It differs from other ''Oryzomys'' species in several features of its skull. Its diet includes crustaceans, insects, and plant material. The species is listed as "Endangered" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as a result of destruction of its habitat and competition with the i ...
