Psyched Up Janis
Psyched Up Janis was a Danish rock band formed by Sune Rose Wagner, now a member of The Raveonettes, Martin Bjerregaard, and Jakob Jørgensen. Biography Sune Wagner and Jakob Jørgensen played their first concert in Sønderborg under the name of Western Front, in 1989. They recorded their first demo entitled ''I Never Change'' in 1992. That year, the band moved to Copenhagen and Martin Bjerregaard joined the band to be a drummer. The trio went to Sweden to record the self-financed EP, ''I Died in my Teens''. The song by the same name made Single of the Week in Kerrang! Psyched up Janis recorded their debut full-length album ''Swell'' in Wales with Craig Leon as record producer. In 1995 the band signed with British record company This Way Up/Universal. The year after, they moved to England to pursue their career, but without much luck. Racetrack Babies were a Danish punk rock band, formed in Copenhagen in 1998. Their successful first album produced two MTV music videos for the singles "Changing Weather" and "It's OK". The band recorded three albums with various personnel changes before dissolving in 2007. Biography The band was founded in 1998 by Jacob Aaby (guitar), Christian Andersen (guitar and lead vocals), Cecilie Ravik (bass guitar) and Mads Hvidt (drums). In 2002, Jamie Salazar replaced Hvidt on drums and the band recorded its first album, ''Love Sick'', for the band's own Musikministeriet label. The album was rereleased the following year on the Swedish label Dead Frog Records. The album received positive reviews and television and radio airplay throughout Scandinavia. The Saints (Australian Band)
The Saints were an Australian rock band, originating in Brisbane, Queensland in 1973. The band was founded by Chris Bailey (singer-songwriter, later guitarist), Ivor Hay (drummer), and Ed Kuepper (guitarist-songwriter). They were initially labeled a punk band because, like American punk rock band the Ramones, the Saints were employing the fast tempos, raucous vocals and "buzzsaw" guitar that characterised early punk rock – although this only reflects a portion of their overall sound. With their debut single " (I'm) Stranded" in September 1976, they became the first punk band outside the US to release a record, ahead of better-known acts the Damned, the Sex Pistols and the Clash. Roskilde Festival
The Roskilde Festival is a Danish music festival held annually south of Roskilde. It is one of the largest music festivals in Europe and the largest in the Nordic countries. It was created in 1971 by two high school students and a promoter. In 1972, the festival was taken over by the Roskilde Foundation, which has since run the festival as a non-profit organization for development and support of music, culture and humanism. In 2014, the Roskilde Foundation provided festival participants with the opportunity to nominate and vote upon which organizations should receive funds raised by the festival. Roskilde ( , ) is a city west of Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand. With a population of 51,916 (), the city is a business and educational centre for the region and the 10th largest city in Denmark.
