Antonio Vélez Alvarado
Antonio Vélez Alvarado a.k.a. "The Father of the Puerto Rican Flag" (June 12, 1864 – January 16, 1948) was a Puerto Rican journalist, politician and revolutionary who was an advocate of Puerto Rican independence. A close friend of Cuban patriot José Martí, Vélez Alvarado joined the Puerto Rican Revolutionary Committee in New York City and is among those who allegedly designed the Flag of Puerto Rico. Vélez Alvarado was one of the founding fathers of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. Early years Vélez Alvarado was born in the town of Manatí in Puerto Rico to José María Vélez Escobar and Cecilia Alvarado Rodríguez. There he received his primary and secondary education. His family were the wealthy owners of various farms in Manati. Panteón De Los Próceres
The Panteón de los Próceres (Spanish for ''Heroes' Pantheon'') is a crypt inside the old Church of the ''Real Convictorio de San Carlos'' (Royal College of San Carlos) that holds the remains of the heroes of the Peruvian War of Independence. The Church originally belonged to the Jesuit National University of San Antonio Abad in Cuzco, novitiate of San Antonio Abad, but it was transferred after the Jesuits were expelled from Spanish territories. The Church was rebuilt after the 1746 Lima–Callao earthquake leveled Lima, and in 1876 it became the Chapel of the ''Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos''. In 1924, the remains of various heroes of the wars of independence (1821-1824) were transferred to a crypt just under the altar and the Church was renamed "Panteón de los Proceres". Gran Centro Los Próceres
The Centro Comercial Próceres, formerly known as Gran Centro Los Próceres is an extensive shopping complex in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It is run by the Los Próceres (company), Los Próceres group which operates across Latin America and was opened to the public in September 1993. Located at 6 calle 2–00 in the centre of Zone 10 of the city, at its time of inauguration it was one of the largest and most modern shopping malls in Guatemala City. The mall sells clothes, shoes, furniture and electronics and contains many restaurants with cuisine from around the globe, fast-food and ice-cream kiosks. It was also one of the important centers in the city for viewing films, with originally 5 major cinemas located in the complex. The shopping complex is pet-friendly, but also faces great competition with a vast number of shopping malls being built in Guatemala City since its inauguration. The Parque de los Próceres is a park in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. In 1977 the mayor of Mayagüez, Don Benjamín Cole obtained a grant from the Economic Development Administration of the United States Department of Commerce for the construction of the "Parque de los Próceres Puertorriqueños". The park is located in the banks of the Yagüez River between roads PR-108 and PR-65. The name of the park is Spanish for "Puerto Rican Patriots Park". It is located across the street from the Palacio de Recreacion y Deportes. The park's gardens are accentuated by commemorative plaques about prominent Puerto Ricans. The Paseo Los Próceres (translatable into English as ''Walkway of the Heroes'') is a monument located in the Venezuelan city of Caracas, near Fort Tiuna and the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Army. Spanish Royal Statute Of 1834
The Royal Statute of 1834 ( es, Estatuto Real), was a royal charter of the Kingdom of Spain under the rule of Maria Christina, wife of the deceased King Ferdinand VII of Spain, who ruled as Queen Regent during the infancy of her daughter Queen Isabella II of Spain. It came into effect on 10 April 1834. The law created the new Legislature, which was designed as a compromise between the existing Assembly, and a new Bicameral model based on the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The new Legislature (Spanish: ''Cortes'') would consist of an upper chamber (whose members would be unelected and instead appointed by the monarch from the nobility, aristocracy and the rich) and a lower chamber which was designed to be an elected body mirroring the House of Commons of the United Kingdom.
