Préville (17Michaud 1863pp. 325–326 or 19'' L'Intermédiaire des chercheurs et curieux'' 1897p. 407 September 1721 – 18 December 1799) was a French comic actor. Biography Born Pierre-Louis Dubus to an impoverished family in Paris, he was originally intended for the clergy. While playing with a mediocre troop of actors in provincial France, Préville's budding talents were spotted in the town of Rouen by Jean Monnet, who engaged him to perform with the Opéra-Comique in Paris in 1743.Forman 2010, p. 204. Later Préville returned to the provinces and was the manager of the Grand Théâtre in Lyon. He joined the Comédie Francaise in Paris in 1753, where he debuted on 20 September in the role of Crispin in Jean-François Regnard's ''Le Légataire universel'' (''The Sole Legatee''). ''The Marriage of Figaro'' (french: link=no, La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro ("The Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro")) is a comedy in five acts, written in 1778 by Pierre Beaumarchais. This play is the second in the Figaro trilogy, preceded by ''The Barber of Seville'' and followed by '' The Guilty Mother''. In the first play, ''The Barber'', the story begins with a simple love triangle in which a Spanish count has fallen in love with a girl called Rosine. He disguises himself to ensure that she will love him back for his character, not his wealth. But this is all foiled when Rosine's guardian, Doctor Bartholo, who wants her hand in marriage, confines her to the house. The Count runs into an ex-servant of his (now a barber), Figaro, and pressures him into setting up a meeting between the Count and Rosine. Edmé Boursault (October 163815 September 1701) was a French dramatist and miscellaneous writer, born at Mussy l'Evéque, now Mussy-sur-Seine (Aube). Biography On Boursault's first arrival in Paris in 1651 his language was limited to Burgundian, but within a year he had produced his first comedy, ''Le Mort vivant'' (Living Death). This and some other pieces of small merit secured for him distinguished patronage in the society ridiculed by Molière in the ''Ecole des femmes''. Boursault was persuaded that the Lysidas of that play was a caricature of himself, and attacked Molière in ''Le Portrait du peintre ou la contre-critique de l'Ecole des femmes'' (1663). Molière retaliated in ''L'Impromptu de Versailles'', and Boileau attacked Boursault in Satires 7 and 9.
