Pryde Henry Teves
Pryde Henry A. Teves (born December 18, 1972) is a Filipino politician who was the governor of Negros Oriental in 2022. Prior to this, he was also the mayor of Bayawan, Negros Oriental and a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines representing the 3rd District of Negros Oriental. He was elected as a Philippine legislator on May 14, 2007, and was re-elected in 2010. Both of his eardrums and legs were severely damaged by the blast that hit the Congress building on November 13, 2007. Political career Philippine Congress bombing Congressman Teves was one of the three Philippine representatives, others were Luzviminda Ilagan of GABRIELA partylist and Wahab Akbar of the lone district of Basilan, that were victimized by the explosion. The governor of Negros Oriental is the local chief executive and head of the Negros Oriental, Provincial Government of Negros Oriental. Along with the Governor of Negros Occidental and the Mayor of Bacolod, Mayor of the highly urbanized city of Bacolod, he sits as one of the chief executives of Negros Island. In the Philippines, a nuisance candidate is an official term for an aspirant candidate for a public office whose certificate of candidacy was not accepted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) either ''motu proprio'' by the election body itself or upon a verified petition of an interested party. Gubernatorial elections were held in the Philippines on May 9, 2022. All provinces will elect their provincial governors for three-year terms, who will be inaugurated on June 30, 2022 after their proclamation. Governors that are currently serving their third consecutive terms are prohibited from running as governors (they may run for any other posts however).
