Prunelli
The Prunelli is a small coastal river in the department of Corse-du-Sud, Corsica, France. It flows into the Golfe d'Ajaccio on the Mediterranean Sea. Course The Prunelli is long. It crosses the communes of Ajaccio, Bastelica, Bastelicaccia, Cauro, Eccica-Suarella, Grosseto-Prugna, Ocana and Tolla. The Prunelli originates in Lac de Bracca to the northeast of the Punta Capanella and southeast of the Punta alla Vetta. It flows east, then turns to a southwest direction, flows through Lac de Vitalaca and continues past Bastelica. The Prunelli is joined by the Ese river to the east of Tolla. The Ese is crossed by the magnificent Zipitoli Genoese bridge near its confluence with the Prunelli. To the south of Tolla the river is dammed to form the Lac de Tolla. It continues in a southwest direction to enter the sea to the southwest of Bastelicaccia. The lower valley is wide and full of orchards and fields. Ese (river)
The Ese (french: Ese or Rivière d'Ese) is a river in the department of Corse-du-Sud, Corsica, France. It is a tributary of the Prunelli river, which it joins in the Lac de Tolla. Course The Ese is long. It crosses the communes of Bastelica, Ciamannacce, Frasseto, Guitera-les-Bains, Tasso and Tolla. It rises in the commune of Ciamannacce to the north of the Monte Giovanni. It passes a ski resort, the Val d'Ese, in its upper reaches. It flows in a generally southwest direction, then turns west and joins the Prunelli at the head of Lac de Tolla. The D27a leads from Bastelica for to the Ese plateau at . In winter there is a downhill and cross-country ski resort here. If there is no snow, visitors can hike in the Pozzines. Lower down, the Ese is crossed by the magnificent Zipitoli Genoese bridge near its confluence with the Prunelli. Bastelica
Bastelica is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. It was the birthplace of Sampiero Corso. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bastelicais'', ''Bastelicaises'', or ''Bastilcacci''. Geography Bastelica is located in the interior of the island in the high valley of the Prunelli south-west of the Monte Renoso massif of which it shares the summit at of Monte Renoso with Bocognano and Ghisoni. It is also part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica. It is some 18 km east of Ajaccio (in a straight line). It has many pastures planted with chestnut trees. Access to the commune is by the D27 from Cauro in the south-west which passes through the length of the commune and the village before continuing north to Bocognano. Bastelicaccia (; Corsican: ''A Bastirgaccia'') is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bastilcacci'' or ''Bastelicacciais'' and ''Bastelicacciaises''. Geography Bastelicaccia is to the east of the centre of Ajaccio and immediately to the east of Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport. It was created in 1865 between the rivers Gravona and Prunelli. The highest point in the commune is Monte Aragnasco. Access to the commune is by Route nationale N196 which passes through the south of the commune from the airport in the west to Cauro in the east. The D3 branches off the N196 at the south-western edge of the commune and goes north-east through the commune to Ocana. Ajaccio
Ajaccio (, , ; French: ; it, Aiaccio or ; co, Aiacciu , locally: ; la, Adiacium) is a French commune, prefecture of the department of Corse-du-Sud, and head office of the ''Collectivité territoriale de Corse'' (capital city of Corsica). Gravona
The Gravona is a river on the island of Corsica, France. It flows from the center of the island southwest to the Gulf of Ajaccio. Its entire course is in the Corse-du-Sud Department of France. It is long. The Gravona Valley conducts the main highway, Route N193, from the capital city, Ajaccio, to the Col de Vizzavona, where it goes through the pass and down to Corte and Bastia. At its upper end the Gravona is a crystal-clear mountain stream cascading over falls and rapids into trout-filled pools. At its lower end nearly all of the Gravona's flow serves to water the densely urban area of Ajaccio. Lac De Bracca
The Lac de Bracca is a small lake in the Monte Renoso massif in the Corse-du-Sud department of France. Location The Lac de Bracca is in the commune of Bastelica to the east of the Punta Capanella and the Punta all Vetta. It is drained by Prunelli river, which flows west and then south through the Lac de Vitalaca, then southwest past the village of Bastelica and through the Lac de Tolla down to the Golfe d'Ajaccio. Lake Bracca is one of the highest lakes in Corsica at an altitude of . It is deep. Hikers can reach the lake via the Col de Scalella. Lac De Tolla
The Lac de Tolla is a reservoir in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the largest lake on Corsica, and powers a hydroelectric plant. Location The Lac de Tolla is formed by a dam (Barrage de Tolla) on the Prunelli river. The Ruisseau d'Agnone and the Ese River also empty into the lake. Lac de Vitalaca ( co, Lavu di Vitalaca) is a small lake in the Monte Renoso massif in the Corse-du-Sud department of France. It is at an altitude of 1,777 metres, and is surrounded by high mountains.
