Lac De Bracca
The Lac de Bracca is a small lake in the Monte Renoso massif in the Corse-du-Sud department of France. Location The Lac de Bracca is in the commune of Bastelica to the east of the Punta Capanella and the Punta all Vetta. It is drained by Prunelli river, which flows west and then south through the Lac de Vitalaca, then southwest past the village of Bastelica and through the Lac de Tolla down to the Golfe d'Ajaccio. Lake Bracca is one of the highest lakes in Corsica at an altitude of . It is deep. Hikers can reach the lake via the Col de Scalella. This is a steep and difficult route, recommended only for seasoned hikers. Corse-du-Sud (; co, link=no, Corsica suttana , or ; en, Southern Corsica) is (as of 2019) an administrative department of France, consisting of the southern part of the island of Corsica. The corresponding departmental territorial collectivity merged with that of Haute-Corse on 1 January 2018, forming the single territorial collectivity of Corsica, with territorial elections coinciding with the dissolution of the separate council. However, even though its administrative powers were ceded to the new territorial collectivity, it continues to remain an administrative department in its own right. Monte Renoso Massif
The Monte Renoso massif (french: Massif du Monte Renoso) is a chain of mountains in the south of the island of Corsica, France. It takes its name from Monte Renoso, the highest peak. Geography The Monte Renoso massif is one of the four main blocks of mountains in Corsica. These are (from north to south), the Monte Cinto massif, Monte Rotondo massif, Monte Renoso massif and Monte Incudine massif. These massifs form the ''Corse cristalline'', mainly composed of magmatic rocks such as granites, granulites, porphyries and rhyolites. The Monte Renoso massif is lower and more open than the northern ones. Bastelica
Bastelica is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. It was the birthplace of Sampiero Corso. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bastelicais'', ''Bastelicaises'', or ''Bastilcacci''. Geography Bastelica is located in the interior of the island in the high valley of the Prunelli south-west of the Monte Renoso massif of which it shares the summit at of Monte Renoso with Bocognano and Ghisoni. It is also part of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica. It is some 18 km east of Ajaccio (in a straight line). It has many pastures planted with chestnut trees. Access to the commune is by the D27 from Cauro in the south-west which passes through the length of the commune and the village before continuing north to Bocognano. Prunelli
The Prunelli is a small coastal river in the department of Corse-du-Sud, Corsica, France. It flows into the Golfe d'Ajaccio on the Mediterranean Sea. Course The Prunelli is long. It crosses the communes of Ajaccio, Bastelica, Bastelicaccia, Cauro, Eccica-Suarella, Grosseto-Prugna, Ocana and Tolla. The Prunelli originates in Lac de Bracca to the northeast of the Punta Capanella and southeast of the Punta alla Vetta. It flows east, then turns to a southwest direction, flows through Lac de Vitalaca and continues past Bastelica. The Prunelli is joined by the Ese river to the east of Tolla. The Ese is crossed by the magnificent Zipitoli Genoese bridge near its confluence with the Prunelli. To the south of Tolla the river is dammed to form the Lac de Tolla. Lac de Vitalaca ( co, Lavu di Vitalaca) is a small lake in the Monte Renoso massif in the Corse-du-Sud department of France. It is at an altitude of 1,777 metres, and is surrounded by high mountains. Location Lac de Vitalaca is in the commune of Bastelica. It is in the Monte Renoso massif between the Punta Capanella to the west and the Bocca della Calle to the east. Lac De Tolla
The Lac de Tolla is a reservoir in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the largest lake on Corsica, and powers a hydroelectric plant. Location The Lac de Tolla is formed by a dam (Barrage de Tolla) on the Prunelli river. The Ruisseau d'Agnone and the Ese River also empty into the lake. It is in the commune of Tolla just south of the village of Tolla. The D3 road runs along its north shore. Lake Tolla is at an altitude of .
