Pruitt Field
Pruitt Field is a field hockey field located in Athens, Ohio on the campus of Ohio University. It serves as the home of the Ohio Bobcats women's field hockey program and opened in 2000. Pruitt Field is surrounded by Goldsberry Track and acts as the infield for track events. Pruitt Field has a potential to hold 1,000 spectators in the red-brick grandstand located on the east side of the stadium. There is also a press box on the stadium's east side and a high quality sound system. The playing surface at Pruitt Field is made of Astroturf 2000 and features a state-of-the-art drainage system below the field. In the summer of 2006, permanent lights were installed. The field is named after Peggy Pruitt who served as Ohio's head field hockey coach from 1975-1977 and Ohio's head tennis coach from 1975–1982. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The Ohio University Marching 110
Ohio University Marching 110 is the official marching band of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, founded in 1923. The nickname ''Marching 110'' is a reference to the band's original number of members. The 2017 band consists of 240 members. It represents the university at various athletic functions and other events, including over 40 NFL halftime shows. History In 1923, a student by the name of Homer Baird started the first marching band at Ohio University. In 1966, Gene Thrailkill joined the OU faculty as the director of bands at Ohio University. Thrailkill brought with him a new high-energy marching style and new uniform, both of which remain the staple of the Marching 110 today. American Lacrosse Conference
The American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) was a women's lacrosse-only college athletic conference whose members competed at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). All of the ALC's members throughout its history were located in the eastern half of the United States. The conference was founded in 2001 in advance of the 2002 NCAA lacrosse season with seven members; nine schools were members at one time or another during its history. In 2009–10, two more Southeastern Conference universities joined the ALC: South Carolina and Florida. The South Carolina program was eventually delayed with no timetable to begin play. Goldsberry Track
Goldsberry Track is the home of the Ohio Bobcats women's track and field team. It has been home to the program since the facility opened in May 2000. The facility is regarded as one of the best track and field facilities in the Mid-American Conference and the region. Goldsberry Track has a potential to hold 1,000 spectators in the red-brick grandstand located on the east side of the stadium. Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball.
