History In 1954, Émilien Pronovost purchased a bush aviation company, La Sarre Air Services, which was headquartered in Nord-du-Québec and operated in a territory that enjoyed a wealth of natural resources but few if any roads. A pioneer of regional air transport, Pronovost grew his company by carrying workers, scientists and various prospectors attracted to the region. Over time, he was able to strengthen the company's position due to an influx of passengers destined for hunting and fishing camps. Propair Flight 420
Propair Flight 420 (PRO420) was a domestic charter flight from Montreal, Quebec to Peterborough, Ontario. The flight was carried out by Propair, a charter airline based in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, using a Fairchild Metroliner SA226. On 18 June 1998, the aircraft suffered an in-flight fire shortly after take-off from Dorval and the crew elected to conduct an emergency landing at Montréal–Mirabel International Airport. The intense heat of the fire caused a structural failure in the left wing during the landing and the aircraft crashed, resulting in the deaths of all 11 passengers and crew on board. The investigation conducted by the Canadian Transportation Safety Board revealed that the left brakes of Flight 420 had overheated during take-off, causing a fire inside the wheel-well which destroyed warning systems, as a result of which the crew was unaware of the severity of the fire, which subsequently ruptured hydraulic pipe-lines and spread to the left wing. Rouyn-Noranda (; Canada 2021 Census, 2021 population 42,313) is a city on Osisko Lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. Air Fecteau was an airline that operated primarily in Quebec, Canada. History The airline was established in 1936 as A. Fecteau Transport Aerien by Arthur Fecteau. He first had a Travel Air 2000 that he fixed with his older brother Joseph. After some time he got a Junkers W 34, a de Havilland Fox Moth and, later, a Noorduyn Norseman. Fecteau was offering air charters from Senneterre across the northern Abitibi region. Getting bigger, he bought new bush planes on the market like the DHC Beaver and DHC Otter. In 1973 it was renamed simply Air Fecteau and in 1983 was acquired by La Sarre Air Services to form Propair. Montréal–Mirabel International Airport , originally called Montréal International Airport, widely known as Mirabel and branded as YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel, is a cargo and former international passenger airport in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada, northwest of Montreal.
