Proleksis Encyclopedia
The ''Proleksis Encyclopedia'' ( hr, Proleksis enciklopedija) is the first Croatian general and national online encyclopedia. ''Proleksis Encyclopedia'' features more than 62,000 articles and more than 17,000 photographs, illustrations and maps. It is freely available to registered users of CARNET, the Croatian national research and education network. The users cannot change the encyclopedia's content directly, but they can post comments and corrections, or submit new articles, all subject to approval by the editorial board. The encyclopedia aims to enlarge the number of entries using input from collaborators. ''Proleksis Encyclopedia'' is a result of collaboration between CARNET and Pro Leksis d.o.o., started in February 2008, and is supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (Croatia), Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. Online Encyclopedia
An online encyclopedia, also called an Internet encyclopedia, or a digital encyclopedia, is an encyclopedia accessible through the internet. Examples include Wikipedia and ''Encyclopædia Britannica''. Digitization of old content In January 1995, Project Gutenberg started to publish the ASCII text of the Encyclopædia Britannica, 11th edition (1911), but disagreement about the method halted the work after the first volume. For trademark reasons this has been published as the Gutenberg Encyclopedia. Project Gutenberg later restarted work on digitising and proofreading this encyclopedia. Project Gutenberg has published volumes in alphabetic order; the most recent publication is ''Volume 17 Slice 8: Matter–Mecklenburg'' published on 7 April 2013. The latest ''Britannica'' was digitized by its publishers, and sold first as a CD-ROM, and later as an online service. Croatian Language
Croatian (; ' ) is the standardized variety of the Serbo-Croatian pluricentric language used by Croats, principally in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian province of Vojvodina, and other neighboring countries. It is the official and literary standard of Croatia and one of the official languages of the European Union. Croatian is also one of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a recognized minority language in Serbia and neighboring countries. Standard Croatian is based on the most widespread dialect of Serbo-Croatian, Shtokavian, more specifically on Eastern Herzegovinian, which is also the basis of Standard Serbian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Antun Vujić
Antun Vujić (born 14 July 1945) is a Croatian politician, philosopher, political analyst, lexicographer and author serving as a director of the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography since 2012. He was a member of Croatian Parliament and Minister of Culture in the Croatian Government from January 2000 to December 2003. Overview Vujić was born in Dubrovnik in 1945. He graduated from the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with major in philosophy and sociology. In 1967 he founded ''Omladinski tjednik'', the first Croatian underground magazine. In the post-Croatian Spring purges in 1972 Vujić was branded a "nationalist, liberal and anarcho-syndicalist" and lost his employment, but was recruited by Miroslav Krleža two years later to work in the Yugoslav Lexicographical Institute. The Ministry of Science and Education of Croatia ( hr, Ministarstvo znanosti i obrazovanja or MZO) is the ministry in the Government of Croatia which is in charge of primary, secondary and tertiary education, research institutions and sports. The ''Croatian Encyclopedia'' ( hr, Hrvatska enciklopedija) is a Croatian national encyclopedia published by the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography. The Croatian Wikipedia ( hr, Wikipedija na hrvatskome jeziku) is the Croatian version of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, started on February 16, 2003. This version has articles and a total of edits have been made (live count). It has registered user accounts, out of which are active (defined as having performed an action on Wikipedia in the last 30 days), and administrators. Since 2013, the Croatian Wikipedia has received attention from international media for promoting a fascist worldview as well as bias against Serbs of Croatia and anti-LGBT propaganda by the means of historical denialism and by negating or diluting the severity of crimes committed by the Ustaše regime. Slobodna Dalmacija
''Slobodna Dalmacija'' () is a Croatian daily newspaper published in Split. The first issue of ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' was published on 17 June 1943 by Tito's Partisans in an abandoned stone barn on Mosor, a mountain near Split, while the city was occupied by the Italian army. The paper was later published in various locations until Split was liberated on 26 October 1944. From the following day onward, ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' has been published in Split. Although it was originally viewed as a strictly Dalmatian regional newspaper, during the following decades ''Slobodna Dalmacija'', grew into one of the largest and most widely read daily newspapers of Yugoslavia, with its circulation reaching a zenith in the late 1980s.
