Project 22160-class Patrol Ship
Project 22160 is a series of large patrol ships being constructed for the Russian Navy. The vessels are primarily intended for duties such as patrol, monitoring and protection in open and closed seas. The first ship was laid down in February 2014 and joined the Russian Navy in December 2018. By January 2018, six ships were under construction. Design The class's armament includes the Kalibr-NK cruise missile, aerosol camouflage, two grenade launchers and two machine guns and a 76.2 mm dual-purpose gun (AK-176). The ship also has a helicopter deck and hangar for one Ka-27 or Ka-226 helicopter. The ship also carries a landing speedboat, and has provisions for drones, underwater unmanned craft and unmanned boats. There is accommodation for an additional 60 men. Attack On Snake Island
On 24 February 2022, the first day of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Navy attacked Snake Island (Ukraine), Snake Island, a Ukrainian island in the Black Sea, and captured it along with its entire garrison, beginning a military occupation of the island. The attack was widely publicized when an audio clip of Russian cruiser Moskva, Russian cruiser ''Moskva'' hailing the island's garrison over the radio demanding their surrender and being told "Russian warship, go fuck yourself" ( rus, 'Русский военный корабль, Mat (Russian profanity), иди на хуй' , r=Russky voyenny korabl, idi na khuy) in response went viral, along with initial inaccurate reports of the garrison's deaths. The 9M337 Sosna-R (Pine) (SA-X-25) is a Russian radar and laser-guided supersonic ( Mach 2.6) two-stage missile. It is used in Sosna-R short range air defense missile system designed to protect military units from air attacks in all types of combat situations, including during march. The Kortik (russian: Кортик, "dirk") close-in weapon system (CIWS) is a modern naval air defence gun-missile system deployed by the Russian Navy. Its export version is known as Kashtan (russian: Каштан, English: Chestnut), with the NATO designation CADS-N-1 Kashtan. The Kortik is found on the Russian aircraft carrier '' Admiral Kuznetsov'', the , the , as well as the People's Liberation Army Navy ''Sovremenny''-class destroyers, and other modern designs. Typically deployed as a combined gun and missile system, it provides defence against anti-ship missiles, anti-radar missiles and guided bombs. The 3M-54 Kalibr, (Калибр, caliber), also referred to it as 3M54-1 Kalibr, 3M14 Biryuza (Бирюза, turquoise), (NATO reporting name SS-N-27 Sizzler and SS-N-30A) is a family of Russian cruise missiles developed by the Novator Design Bureau (OKB-8).
