Private Sector Participation Scheme
The Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) is a subsidised-sale public housing programme managed by the Hong Kong Housing Authority. It was instituted in the late 1970s as part of the government policy for public housing with two aims – to encourage better-off tenants of rental flats to vacate those flats for re-allocation to families in greater housing need; and also to provide an opportunity for home ownership to families unable to afford to buy in the private sector. Under the scheme, the government sells flats to eligible public housing tenants and to lower-income residents at prices below the market level, with discounts usually between 30 and 40 per cent. It restricts resale of the units in the second-hand market to other families who qualify or, on the open market, after payment of a premium equal to the updated value of the discount given on the original purchase. Tin Fu Court
Tin Fu Court () is a Home Ownership Scheme court developed by the Hong Kong Housing Authority in Tin Shui Wai, New Territories, Hong Kong, near Tin Yan Estate, Tin Yat Estate, Tin Yuet Estate, Light Rail Tin Fu stop and Tin Sau Road Park. It comprises 16 residential blocks completed in 2001 and 2007 respectively. History Short piling scandal In 1999, the piles of Block J (Chui Fu House) were found to be shortened by up to seven meters compared with the standard requirement. Foundation strengthening works was then carried out in the block and completed in 2002. It was resold to the public in 2007. Houses Demographics According to the 2016 by-census, Tin Fu Court had a population of 14,766. The median age was 40.8 and the majority of residents (96.7 per cent) were of Chinese ethnicity. Sui Wo Court
Sui Wo Court ( Chinese: 穗禾苑) is one of the first estates under Home Ownership Scheme. It is located in Fo Tan, Sha Tin District, Hong Kong. Built in 1980, it is located on a mountain above Wo Che and east of central Fo Tan, northwest of Sha Tin. The court was designed by Palmer and Turner and received a Silver Medal at the 1981 Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards.
