Slovenia was represented by Darja Švajger with the song "Prisluhni mi" in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995. Before Eurovision Slovenski izbor za pesem Evrovizije 1995 Slovenski izbor za pesem Evrovizije 1995 took place on 18 February 1995 at the RTV Slovenija studios in Ljubljana, hosted by Saša Gerdej. A jury vote from twelve radio stations in Slovenia determined the winner. At Eurovision On the night of the contest, Darja Švajger performed 20th in the running order, following Denmark and preceding Israel. At the close of voting she received 84 points, placing 7th in a field of 23. Darja Švajger
Darja Švajger (born 16 June 1965 in Maribor, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia) is one of Slovenia's most popular singers, perhaps best known internationally for having represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest on two occasions. Early life Music entered Darja's life when she was still a child. After finishing secondary school, she entered the College of Music and attended art classes in Graz, Austria, where she studied classical solo singing and jazz. In 1997, she graduated magna cum laude. Already during her studies she had started performing as a solo vocalist with various bands and symphony orchestras. Since 1992 she has been engaged in several projects of the Maribor National Drama Theatre, Slovene National Theatre in Maribor. The Eurovision Song Contest 1995 was the 40th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 13 May 1995 at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. Radiotelevizija Slovenija ( en, Radio-Television of Slovenia) – usually abbreviated to RTV Slovenija (or simply RTV within Slovenia) – is Slovenia's national public broadcasting organization. Ljubljana
Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. Oto Pestner (born January 4, 1956 in Celje) is a politician and one of the most prominent singers and composers of popular music from Slovenia. Until 2008, he was the leader of the Slovene vocal group New Swing Quartet. From 1986 to 1991 and in 1995, he was member of '' Alpski kvintet'' (German: ''Alpenoberkrainer''). Slovenia returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 with Nuša Derenda and the song "Energy". The song was selected as the Slovene entry after it won the Slovene national final, EMA 2001. Before Eurovision EMA 2001 ''EMA 2001'' was the 6th edition of the Slovenian national final format '' Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA)''. The competition was used by RTV Slovenija to select Slovenia's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. Format EMA 2001 consisted of a semi final on 23 February 2001 and a final on 24 February 2001. Twenty-two artists competed in EMA 2001. In the semi-final, 12 songs qualified to the final as six songs were selected by the Slovenian public and the other six songs were selected by the jury. Nuša Derenda
Nuša Derenda (, born Anuška Žnideršič on March 30, 1969 in Brežice, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian singer who represented Slovenia at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark where she achieved 7th place. Biography At the age of two and a half, Derenda's parents became aware of her singing talent. She always loved to sing and perform in front of an audience. Music was an integral part of her childhood. She sang in choruses, performed as a soloist, attended music school, and learned to play the accordion. Shortly before finishing primary school, Nuša joined a band of young musicians. Although Derenda originally wanted to become a preschool teacher and work part-time in a nursery school for a year, she continued to sing with the band and traveled throughout Europe.
