Principal Secretary To The Prime Minister Of Pakistan
The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan (also referred to as PSPM or PM's Chief of Staff) is the administrative head and highest-ranking official of the Prime Minister's Office. The position holder is usually an officer belonging to the Pakistan Administrative Service serving in BPS-22 grade. The Principal Secretary advises and assists the Prime Minister on all the official business routed through the PM Office, and because of this the PSPM is generally regarded as the most crucial aide to the Prime Minister. The current Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister is Syed Tauqir Shah. Being the administrative head of the Prime Minister's Office, the Principal Secretary wields significant amount of power over the daily affairs of the Government of Pakistan. The Prime Minister's Office (Urdu: دفترِ وزیرِ اعظم) is the principal workplace of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and is headed by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Tauqir Shah. Nargis Sethi ( ur, ) is a retired Pakistani civil service officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service who served in BPS-22 grade as the Cabinet Secretary of Pakistan and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Other heavyweight assignments held by Sethi include Secretary for Water and Power, Secretary for Economic Affairs and Defence Secretary of Pakistan. The federal secretary (also referred to as the secretary to the Government of Pakistan) is the highest-ranking position in the Government of Pakistan, occupied by the most senior civil servant in a specific ministry or division. The principal secretary to the president of Pakistan is the administrative head of Aiwan-e-Sadr. The position was considered to be a very important one until 2010 as after the Eighteenth Amendment, the presidency was reduced to a mere ceremonial position. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif (Urdu, Punjabi: , ; born 23 September 1951) is a Pakistani politician and businessman who is currently serving as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan, in office since 11 April 2022.
